PARIS

Neymar has been a leading force for Paris since the UEFA Champions League returned with some moments of brilliance helping his side to a first ever final in the competition. The Brazilian produced assists in both the quarter-final and semi-final victories over Atalanta and Leipzig, and could easily have netted bigger #UCLfantasy hauls had he converted his opportunities in front of goal. Still, the fact he is putting himself in dangerous positions bodes well for his owners against Bayern. The 28-year-old has performed well against German opposition this season, has scored against Bayern in the past, and has also been on the scoresheet in a previous UEFA Champions League final (2015), so the omens are positive for anyone who chooses him as captain.

Ángel Di María (€8.4m)

Di María, who already boasts a UEFA Champions League medal owing to his triumph with Real Madrid in 2014, was in sparkling form upon his return from suspension in Tuesday’s semi-final victory over Leipzig. The Argentinian played in a front three alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, and delivered a 15-point return for his owners courtesy of a goal and two assists, his third double-figure haul of the campaign. That performance against Leipzig will surely keep him in the starting line-up and, given his advanced position, he will tempt #UCLfantasy managers looking to take advantage of the extra points available to players classed as midfielders.

BAYERN

Robert Lewandowski (€11.1m)

No doubt the most highly selected captain on the final matchday will be Lewandowski, and why wouldn’t he be? The Pole’s numbers this term are staggering as he has scored 55 goals in all competitions, including 15 in the UEFA Champions League – just two short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s all-time record of 17 set in 2013/14. His goal and assist against Lyon in Wednesday’s semi-final took him to 100 #UCLfantasy points for the campaign and, if he finds the net against Paris on Sunday, he will have scored in every UEFA Champions League match he has played this season. Those seeking to protect leads in their respective mini-leagues will look at Lewandowski as the sensible captain choice.

Serge Gnabry (€8.5m)

Of course, given recent form, you could make an equal – if not stronger – argument for handing Gnabry the armband. The talented German winger has notched an impressive nine goals in the competition this season and has a huge ceiling when it comes to #UCLfantasy points, as shown by notable hauls of 22, 15 and 14 points across the campaign – the last of which came in the midweek semi-final. Gnabry has outscored the more popular Lewandowski over the last two matchdays and there is nothing to suggest he cannot do so again in the final. Hardly a differential pick, but certainly one with a better upside than Lewandowski.

Lionel Messi: Barcelona board ‘debate transfer’ with some in favour of selling superstar.

- Lionel Messi’s future at Camp Nou now hangs in the balance as some board members want him to leave

- TheArgentine has threatened to leave the club if there is no restructuring

- Messi has also told new manager Ronald Koeman that he no longer sees his future at the club

Lionel Messi could finally leave Barcelona this summer as the club’s board continues to debate the possible transfer of the Argentine star as some are in favour of selling the superstar.

The 33-year-old is visibly furious with the club management and has threatened to quit the Catalan club any moment from now.

The Sun are reporting that Messi, whose contract lapses in the summer of 2021, has told the club board to restructure the squad totally otherwise he would leave.

Messi also told new Barcelona handler Ronald Koeman that he does not see his future at the Camp Nou after the side's failure last term.

After being appointed as the new manager at Barcelona, Ronald Koeman decided to meet his wards to discuss how they will succeed as from next season.

According to the report by Radio RAC1, his meeting with captain Messi was not that fruitful as the Argentine is already considering leaving the Catalans.

The report added that Messi even ended his summer holiday on Thursday, August 20, in order for him to sort out his future with the Barcelona chiefs.

ESPN claim the 33-year-old's uncertainty has sparked a huge debate at board level and some board members have agreed to let the maestro leave.

If he does leave, Manchester City have been rated Messi's likeliest destination, followed by Inter Milan.

His rumbling discontent with Barca bigwigs peaked after last week's 8-2 Champions League humbling by Bayern Munich.
