Eric Bailly Issues Injury Update After Being Forced Off On International Duty
~1.4 mins read
Man Utd defender Eric Bailly has issued an injury update to fans after being forced off during Ivory Coast's match against Belgium on Thursday.
The 26-year-old was replaced after 70 minutes of the clash at the King Baudouin Stadium, Brussels, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
At the time of Bailly's substitution, Belgium were one up thanks to Michy Batshuayi's goal, before Franck Kessie's late penalty levelled the scoring.
As Bailly left the field he was clutching his hamstring, causing concern among United fans over a potential injury crisis mounting up.
But posting on to his Instagram account after the match, Bailly quickly allayed any fears.
He wrote: "Thank you for worrying about me, but I’m doing well. Just fatigue.
"Goodnight to you all and God protect us. Congratulations to my team for the match against the first ranked team."
Ivory Coast now face Japan in Utrecht, Netherlands, on Tuesday before Bailly will return to United ahead of their next fixture at Newcastle on October 17.
United are already short on defenders having let Chris Smalling depart permanently on deadline day while Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones and not in first-team contention.
Bailly only returned to United's starting lineup at the weekend, but endured a torrid afternoon as they were beaten 6-1 at the hands of Tottenham.
The centre-back was handed a start in place of Victor Lindelof but was arguably at fault for three of Spurs' goals.
Former Man Utd captain Roy Keane has since blasted the team display, but it was not clear whether Bailly was one of those in the firing line.
"You all have bad days in football," Keane told ITV. "Some of the players were a disgrace to the Man United badge.
"Too many bluffers and ultimately, these players will cost Ole his job. The players he has got there - they threw the previous manager under the bus. They will do the same to Ole."

Bayern Munich Vs Sevilla: Who Will Come Out On Top?
~1.2 mins read
After over six months of empty stadia, Spanish football fans will finally be let in to watch Bayern Munich vs Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup on Thursday night.
Just over 500 lucky Sevilla supporters will be allowed in to the Puskas Arena in Budapest, where the clash between the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League respectively will take place.
It feels like yesterday that fans were able to congregate at stadia, to celebrate goals, to feel happiness - and sadness - and to meet one another.
The coronavirus pandemic has robbed us of these moments, so the event will feel special, particularly for a Sevilla fanbase that, like its team, never bows it head.
As their anthem of hope goes: "That's why I'm coming to see you today."
And what about the match itself?
Bayern are the juggernaut of European football, and their coach Hansi Flick has them playing in a style full of pace and power.
Whether Sevilla are ready to face them is uncertain, particularly given they are essentially still in the midst of their pre-season.
That's perhaps why Los Nervionenses coach Julen Lopetegui is working harder than ever, and he sees this as a huge opportunity to repeat Sevilla's double from 2006, when they won both the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.
It looks as though Lopetegui will play three at the back for this encounter, with a view to unsettling Bayern as much as possible.
That's their task: to create uncertainty in the Bavarian ranks, and for their much-vaunted opponents to feel suffocated by white shirts.
After such a long time without them, these magical nights - with fans - are back.
