Graeme Souness Urges Liverpool To Seal "perfect" Thiago Alcantara Transfer
~1.5 mins read
The Gunners have already sealed three signings this summer, with the latest being Dani Ceballos re-joining on a season-long loan deal.
But Mikel Arteta is intent on further arrivals, with another central midfielder in his sights.
Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey is a long-time target, whilst there have also been talks for Lyon's Houssem Aouar.
There also looks to be some outgoings, with the likes of Emi Martinez, Rob Holding, Sokratis, and Lucas Torreira all linked with moves away from north London.
Thiago ‘call’ with Arteta
Mikel Arteta reportedly held talks with Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara over a move to the Emirates Stadium, according to reports in France, via talkSPORT.
Thiago has been heavily linked with a switch to the Reds this summer, but if these previous reports are to be believed, then Arsenal are also interested in the 29-year-old.
Arsenal have been tracking a creative midfielder all summer, with links to Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.
But when walking out of his post-game interview after Spain’s 1-1 draw with Germany last week, Thiago appeared to shrug off links to the Premier League.
The midfielder was asked: “Liverpool or Manchester?”
Thiago laughed and replied: “Ciao!” before saying: “Munich is my home and I’m so happy to be there.”
THIAGO BREAKS SILENCE ON TRANSFER LINKS WITH STRONG STATEMENT
Who do Liverpool need to sign to retain the title? .
Graeme Souness has called on Liverpool to put a 'disappointing' transfer window behind them by signing Spain star Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.
The Reds have been heavily linked with the midfielder for a number of months but have so far been unwilling to meet Bayern's £27million asking price.
Manager Hansi Flick declared last week he expects Thiago to leave the Allianz Arena this summer.
But the player broke his silence on Saturday to insist he has not told anyone he is departing.
Liverpool's only recruit of the summer so far is £11.75million left-back Kostas Tsimikas, who joined on a long-term deal from Olympiacos to provide cover and competition for Andy Robertson.

Manchester United Transfers News LIVE James Garner Plus Sergio Reguilon To Man Utd And Sancho Latest
~1.2 mins read
Manchester United are still working on a possible three further summer signings before the window closes in around a month's time.
United are still prioritising a move for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho but MEN Sport understands the club is also open to signing a left-back, a centre-back and a forward.
United are considering Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon and have also been impressed by Vitaliy Mykolenko of Dynamo Kiev. Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams are Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's current left-back and despite the links the position is not thought to be a major priority.
United have also been linked with RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano as Solskjaer accepts the central defensive area requires improvement. United, however, have not been as active in looking to bolster that department in the current window and accept plans to recruit a defender might have to be parked until next year.
Jadon Sancho says he is ignoring speculation over his future amid transfer interest from Manchester United.
The Borussia Dortmund star remains a priority transfer target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but the Reds have been unable to reach a breakthrough in negotiations for the 20-year-old.
Dortmund are adamant Sancho will stay at the Bundesliga side for at least one more season but MEN Sport understand United remain hopeful of securing his signature before the October 5 transfer window deadline. United have still not found a resolution over Sancho's salary expectations and the agents' fees during talks with his representative Emeka Obasi and the intermediary Marco Lichtsteiner, acting on behalf of Dortmund.
The transfer saga looks set to drag on until deadline day and Sancho was asked about his future during an interview
