Not Messi, Not Ronaldo!! Not Pele!! See The Only Footballer That Scored Over 800 Goals (Photos)
The Guinness World Record for the most goals scored in a specified period is 1,281 by the Brazilian great Pele.
Pele scored these goals between September 7th, 1956, and October 1st, 1977 a period of 1,363 matches.
While this is the total officially recognized by Guinness, the Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF), which documents only official games, puts his match total at 767 from 831 matches.
With this, Pele is automatically placed as number 3 with another Brazilian great ahead of him with
772 goals from 994 matches.
Let's quickly look at the list of top 10 Players with most career goals in the history of football.
Ferenc Puskás was a Hungarian footballer and manager, widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and the sport's first international superstar. He died 17 November 2006, although he is dead his Legacy still lives on.
He scored 746 goals in 754 matches (0.99 per match)
Already regarded as the greatest footballer by so many people and pundits. While other people argue is rival Lionel Messi is the greatest, it boils down to how you see things.
Apart from his amazing and impressive scoring stats, he also has a record of Five (5) Balon D'or and four(4) golden boot. He is the only player with more in this top five list and second in overall players with only Lionel Messi has more with six (6) Balon D'or and six Golden boots. As the only active player on this list, there is a great possibility that he would surpass them in at least two years more since he is just 52goals shy of the first place. Ronaldo has an average 44goals per year so it's just a matter of time before he surpasses all if he stays very active and consistent.
He presently has 753 goals from 1049 matches (0.72 per match).
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé, is a Brazilian retired professional footballer who played as a forward. Widely regarded as the greatest player of all time, he was among the most successful and popular sports figures of the 20th century. He has three world cup to his name. He scored 767 goals from 831 matches (0.92 per match).
Romário played for many clubs that spanned across five continents for over two decades. He scored 71 goals in 85 appearances for Brazil (including appearances and goals in the Olympics).
He scored 772 goals from 994 matches (0.77 per match).
Josef "Pepi" Bican was a Czech-Austrian professional footballer who played as a striker. He is the most prolific goalscorer of all-time in league matches, first-level championships matches, official matches, and total matches according to Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation.
Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) estimates that he scored more than 600 league goals, 537 first-level championships goals, more than 805 goals in official matches, and more than 1468 goals in total matches (data is missing regarding the 1952 Czech Second Division). In 1998, the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) awarded him a 'Medal of Honour' for being among the world’s most successful top division goalscorers of all time. In 2000, IFFHS awarded Bican the "Golden Ball" as the greatest goalscorer of the 20th Century.
He scored a record 805 goals from 530 matches (1.52 per match).
That's all for the top five(5). I am very sure Messi fans will be furious and surprised that he is not there. Messi currently ranks number 7 in all-time top scorer with Gerd Muller above him scoring 735 and Messi currently have 730goals.
It just a matter of time before he gets to top 5 as he is not seen to be retiring anytime soon, at least he still has up to 4-5 years left to play and he is 33.
No doubt Messi is the greatest player to ever grace the football pitch, some would say otherwise, especially Ronaldo fans but if you watch football without being sentimental you will clearly see he is the greatest.
