The 2019/2020 Champions league competition have just been concluded with the German side Bayern Munich emerging as deserved winners.
They emerged as champions after a 1-0 win over PSG in the finals of what was a record breaking champions league campaign for them. They won the competition in style without losing any match.
The list of the award winners have been published and unsurprisingly the duo of Messi and Ronaldo who have maintained duopoly on the competition were nowhere to be found. A lot of people were not surprised after under par displays by the two titans in this year's competition resulting in their embarrassing knockouts from the competition.
After a wonderful campaign, Bayern Munich and their players deservedly dominated the award list.
1. Best Attacking Team
Bayern Munich emerged as the best attacking team with a total of 242 attempts on goal, followed by RB Leipzig at a distant 155.
Man City, Liverpool and Real Madrid made 148,143 and 141 attempts respectively.
2. Total Attempts On Target
Bayern Munich also emerged as the team with the highest attempts on target with 101 positive attempts.
3. Highest Goals Scored
Bayern Munich also came first in this category after scoring 43 goals in the competition to confirm themselves as the most prolific side.
4. Top Scorer
The Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski has proven himself to be lethal in front of goal with 55 goals in all competitions this season, with 15 of his goals coming in the champions league.
He is the winner of this year's golden boot. Followed by Dortmund's wonder kid Erling Haaland.
5. Individual Attempts on Target
The Bayern forward Lewandowski also emerged winner in this category, proving that there's a lot more where his goals are coming from. He had 30 attempts on target.
6. Golden glove
The golden glove was won by the Bayern Munich goal keeper Manuel Neur after keeping 6 clean sheets in the competition.
He was tied on 5 clean sheets with PSG's Keylor Navas ,but won it after his team downed PSG in a 1-0 win at the finals.
7. Highest Assist
Bayern Munich's Lewandowski and PSG's winger Angel Di Maria emerged as the best playmakers of the competition with 6 assists each.
Truly the German side truly dominated this season's champions league competition, leaving Messi and Ronaldo wondering if their time has passed.
