Jadon Sancho And Raphael Varane Complete Transfers And Paul Pogba Signs New Contract
~6.8 mins read
Manchester United are set for a huge summer transfer window and could start it with a massive deal for Jadon Sancho.
talkSPORT brought you the news Borussia Dortmund have told the Red Devils to pay a ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ asking price of an initial £77million, plus add-ons.
They have, reportedly, already agreed personal terms with the player which bodes well for the transfer.
United chased the player, currently at Euro 2020 with England, last summer but failed to meet Dortmund’s massive £117m demands.
Now, though, it may just be a case of when, rather than if, he signs for the club – and what a huge boost it would be for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And more is set to come too with Paul Pogba seemingly set to pen a new deal at Old Trafford.
It has been reported that the 28-year-old will be offered a new five-year contract worth £400,000-a-week.
It would make the France Euro 2020 star the highest paid player in the Premier League, ahead of teammate David de Gea.
The goalkeeper is currently Man United’s top earner raking in £375,000-a-week.
It would also put Pogba ahead of Kevin De Bruyne’s £385,000-a-week salary at Man City.
And United might not stop there either. Their defence has, on occasion, drawn criticism with Victor Lindelof viewed as a weak link.
Real Madrid and France star Raphael Varane could be the man to supersede the Swede.
He’s spent 10 seasons in Spain but has apparently been frustrated that Los Blancos chiefs did not prioritise a new deal for him.
Instead, they opened talks with Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez and Sergio Ramos ahead of him, with the latter opting to quit the Bernabeu this summer.
Now Varane is said to be stalling on a two-year extension and has just 12 months to run on his current contract.
This could see his agents meet with Man United chiefs as soon as this week with a potential £50m deal on the cards.
How Manchester United could look next season…
We think you’ll agree that keeping Pogba, while signing Sancho and Varane is quite the coup for the Red Devils.
Pogba will, of course, retain a spot in Solskjaer’s midfield and should play alongside Bruno Fernandes, their creator-in-chief, with Scotland ace Scott McTominay sat behind them in a defensive role, allowing the duo ahead of him to make mischief.
England starlet Sancho will start on the right wing but his arrival will strengthen their wide options overall as he can also play on the left.
Mason Greenwood is the player most likely to suffer from these moves with his compatriot taking his spot on the flank, while Daniel James will also wonder how much game time he will get next season.
Meanwhile, Varane settles in easily in place of Lindelof with Harry Maguire alongside him, while Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be at full-back.
Dean Henderson could also see himself come in as Solskjaer’s no. 1 for the 2021/22 campaign ahead of De Gea.
And after signing a contract extension it’s likely Edinson Cavani will be their main forward and Marcus Rashford will start on the left wing.
