ByteDance Will Not Sell TikTok US Business
TikTok, the leading social platform with over 100 million users in the United States, will not be sold to Microsoft or Oracle, latest reports claim. According to CGTN, an English TV station owned by the Chinese state, ByteDance will not sell its business to Oracle or Microsoft and won’t give its source code to any US firm.Multiple sources report Oracle is working on a more complicated deal with ByteDance, including becoming technology partners and stakeholders in each other’s entities.CGTN revealed China has issued a revised catalog of technologies that are subject to export bans or restrictions. Some specialists argue this was done to prevent TikTok from becoming owned by a US company without obtaining a license from the Chinese government. The state-owned TV reminded that ByteDance “boasts a number of cutting-edge technologies in artificial intelligence and other spheres†and some of them are close to the articles in the revised government document.
Specialists argue that topics like “personalized information push service technology based on data analysis†and “AI interactive interface technology†can be found both in the list of restricted technologies for export and in the portfolio of ByteDance. The company is currently declining comment, with Zhang Yiming, chairman of ByteDance, simply stating that his company “is developing solutions that will be in the interest of users, creators, partners, and employeesâ€.

Report: Apple To Launch AirPods 3 And Mini LED IPad In H1 2021
Ming Chi-Kuo is a long-time Apple analyst who reports on Apple products throughout the year, including the iPhone. According to his latest research report, Kuo predicts that Apple’s revenue is expected to rise up to 100% year-on-year in 2021 due to a change in the iPhone 13’s battery components. The report states that Taiwan Career Technology will be coming back into the picture as a key supplier for Apple’s entire lineup of products in 2021 including the iPhone 13 in H2 of 2021, the new AirPods expected in the first half of next year, and a new mini LED iPad (where new display technology will debut) coming in the same timeframe.
Apple AirPods ProThe iPhone 12’s batteries are currently using a combination of soft and hard boards and the iPhone 13 is said to switch fully to soft board technology. Soft board batteries contain less layers than their hard board counterparts. This new kind of battery would help save precious internal space in the iPhones and cost less to produce. This year’s iPhones have slightly smaller batteries than last year’s iPhone 11 lineup. Given the added power draw from 5G modems across the whole lineup and the iPhone 12 Pro with a larger screen, the new iPhones aren’t performing as well in endurance. Apple’s looking for ways to extend battery life while making iPhones slimmer.

Unimicron and Unitech, two other suppliers, are expected to supply batteries for iPhones as well.As per the report, the new AirPods 3 is expected to share its design with the current AirPods Pro and Taiwan Career Technology is expected to fulfill orders for soft boards in the AirPods themselves, as well as within the charging cases. The same supplier will also provide acoustic and optical component soft boards for the mini LED iPads. Again, both the new iPads and AirPods 3 are expected sometime in the first half of next year.
