MISS ROSE.(Part 4)
~2.8 mins read
I stared at my phone with fright and I shivered literally while it rang persistently. I wasn't sure how to explain my whereabout, to my fiance, Ben. Still contemplating whether to receive the call, Tokunbo walked in and he stared at the phone and turned to me.
"Your phone is ringing." He said. I responded with a nod. "Yes, I know I'm not just ready to answer." I replied.
"Really? Okay, then eat up, your breakfast is getting cold." Tokunbo urged. I heaved a heavy sigh as the phone continued to ring. Tokunbo moved forward and picked up the phone, immediately he switched it, off.
I was quite astonished, like, I thought he was too forward. "You know, you shouldn't have switched off the phone?" I reacted.
"Trust me, you don't need these distractions. Right now, you need to relax." Tokunbo, continued to insist.
"You know what? I think I will just take a bath and head home. I feel better now, thanks for all your kind gestures." I said, as I stepped out of the bed. Tokunbo handed me a white towel and a bottle of liquid soap.
"The water is warm." He said as I entered the bathroom and locked the door.
"Thanks." I replied as I turned on the shower. That moment the gentle drops of water hit my back, it was another world! I began to reflect on all the beautiful times I had with Tokunbo way back. He was a really great guy and fun to be with, I actually thought we would end up together but he was too jealous!
Many time, Tokunbo would hit any guy he saw me with, even though I had nothing attached. There was a certain occasion, he literally pushed one of them into a pool of water, I was so embarrassed.
"Dis guy go wound you one day o!" My friends would lament, anytime we had our hangouts.
"Tokunbo is not such a bad guy o! He just has issues with his temper." I would defend but, it grew worse.
Then, one fateful day, I was caught up in traffic so I decided to get down from the bus and trek some mile. Along the way, this gentleman pulled over and offered me a ride. God knows, I was too tired not to accept.
I entered the car and he drove off. In twenty minutes, I was home. I thanked the good Samaritan as I stepped out of the car. Tokunbo had seen us before I entered the house.
"Who was that bastard!?" He yelled, quite furious.
"Tokunbo, that was someone who just offered to help me get home, the traffic was really, crazy." I replied.
"Shut up! You liar!" He shouted. I was really shocked and short of words. Without saying anything, I headed for the room and before I could say 'Jack', he pulled me back and slammed against the chair.
"Tokunbo! What has come over you?" I lamented.
"Look! You belong to me! I will never tolerate anyone touching you!" He continued to yell. My mind began to run riot, I just wanted to run out.
Later that week, I called off the relationship. Despite his pleadings, I decided to move on. So when i saw him at the party, years after, a lot triggered in me.
There was a tap on the door and I snapped out of my thoughts. "Mis Rose, are you okay?" Tokunbo called out.
"Yes! I'm almost done." I replied as I continued to shower. In few minutes, I was all set to go home as I waited for Tokunbo to drop me off at the bus stop.
"Miss Rose, why can't you spend more time with me, let's talk, fate has brought us together. Why are you in a hurry to leave?" Tokunbo persuaded me. Suddenly, I lost my will power.

MISS ROSE.(Part 6.)
~1.5 mins read
I stammered and was quite incoherent as I tried to explain myself. Ben, just sat on the couch and stared at me. I could see the disbelief in his eyes;it spoke far louder, than the fabrications I was trying to present.
Then, the next ques tion threw me, off balance. "Miss Rose, what's going on?"
My heart pounded faster than a race car. The question spoke volumes of Ben's disappointment in me. Then, I held on to his shirt.
"Please,Ben forgive me, I would have called but I couldn't." I pleaded. Ben remained quiet and I could hear his breath under that silence. "I called you several times yet, no response. Then I became worried." Ben lamented. I wrapped my hands around his neck and placed my head on his chest.
"Ben, I said I'm sorry nau! Please. Something happened at the event so I had to put up in a friend's house." I managed to say, eventually. Ben raised up my head and looked at me with concern.
"But I hope you are fine?" Ben probed.
"Yes, I'm just tired. I need to rest." I said, quite sober. Ben looked quite relieved as he held me by my hands.
"You know I love you and want the best for you?" He said.
"I understand." I said as I nodded in the affirmative.
"Well, I made your favourite meal.let me bring it." He said. That's Ben, for you; very caring and homely, very patient too. Ben had a way of forgiving easily and that was the first attraction, for me.
In no time,He returned with a tray of moimoi and hot pap. By this time,i was very hungry and wasted no time to ear my favourite meal.As days passed by, I put all the previous events behind me. Ben and I had a date during the weekend and he had chosen a very exotic restaurant.
Immediately we entered, I was wowed!!! From the light, interiors to the customer care service, it was hundred percent.
Ben ushered me to a special corner, he had reserved for us.
"Thank you." I said as I sat down.
"You're welcome." He replied. Suddenly, I saw someone walking towards our direction,by the time he drew closer, I realised it was Tokunbo!
