~1.9 mins read
Four former hotel employees who were stripped naked on the orders of a former Minister for Education and Chairman of Signatious hotel at Warri, Delta State, have demanded a one billion Naira cash compensation and to publically apologize for his misdeed.
The demand of the compensation has been based on maltreatment- ordeal, bestial conduct, toture and stripping of the hotel workers to nakedness in public.
According to report, The victims' client team led by Mr. Kunle Edun of Tri-Lex Partners Law Firm, made the demand among other things in a September 23, 2020 letter sent to Mr. Gbagi.
Gbagi is also a Lawyer.
The letter sent to him was titled 'Trial by ordeal, torture, stripping naked, and bestial conduct of Signatious Hotel and yourself in an organized show of shame and animalism: Notice of intentions to seek redress. '
Edun stated the list of their clients; one man was among the clients, Mr. Victor Ephraim. While three among the four were females.
"Gloria Oguzi, Mrs. Precious Archibong, Rosalin Okiemute D, all three were ladies."
It has been said that the chairman's action arose because of a tip of cash given to the staff by a guest.
The Guest lodged at the hotel for four days and departed on August, 2020.
The letter read in part, "that after the guest stayed he gave our clients the sum of #105,000 as tips for the good times that he had at the hotel. "
"This gain is not unusual in the hospitality business and the hotel did not lose any money neither did any money was alleged to have been stolen."
"You have told our clients menacingly that they are not entitled to tips as all tips belong to you. As a matter of fact you cartegorically stated that they were not supposed to have monies in their accounts as long as they were working for you."
The letter stated that with the threatening of the Armed Policemen who did your bidding, you directed your son of 15 years old [a minor], Mr. Egba Gbagi to film and take photos of our clients nakedness and then summoned the others staff of the hotel to see the nakedness of our clients.
The lawyers gave the minister 5 days among others things to pay their clients #1 billion as a modest damages and compensation for the unmitigated actions of yours.
