Two German born Nigerian, Jordan Torunarigha and Augsburg Uduokhai have agreed to join the Super Eagles camp in Austria ahead of the two international friendlies with Cote D’Ivoire and Tunisia in early October.
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has been able to convince the duo after initial refusal by the two Nigerians who are billed to represent German Under 23 team at next year’s Olympics.
“The two players want to camp with us now and this is very important news for us. I travelled to meet them in March. I met one of them and did not meet the other until three weeks ago,†he said.
Rohr disclosed that the two players have now agreed to switch nationality from Germany to the senior team of Nigeria.
Hertha Berlin defender Torunarigha and Uduokhai delayed their plans to play for Nigeria as they are part of the German Olympic team before the postponement.
The postponement made the players ineligible and they are prepared to join the Super Eagles for the two friendlies in Austria next month.
Reports from Germany have it that the duo and two other players Felix Agu of Werder Bremen and Kevin Akpoguma are ready to join the Super Eagles camp but Rohr is only keen on Torunarigha and Uduokhai.
There also reports that as many as five ex England youth internationals have indicated their willingness to switch allegiance to the senior national team of Nigeria.
Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo who is on loan to Blackburn Rovers tops the list of players which Rohr wants to fortify his team with.
