~1.7 mins read
B ashir Muhammad 23, and Nasiru Salisu 27, both arrested in connection with the murder of Captain Abdulkareem Na’Allah, the eldest son of Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, have narrated their reason for killing him.
Abdulkareem was found dead in his room at his Malali GRA, Kaduna, on August 29, 2021.
The prime suspect in the case, Bashir Muhammad, a resident of Rabah road in Kaduna North Local Government Area, told journalists at the police headquarters on Thursday that they gained entry into the deceased’s home to steal his car.
He claimed he did not know the victim, saying: “One day, we were passing in front of his house, Nasiru, me (Bashir) and Usman DanKano, when we noticed a car inside the house.
“Dan Kano casually said we would pick up the car from the house.
“The following day, while it was raining, we gained access to the deceased’s home, climbed the roof, and removed the roofing sheets’ nails.
When we entered the house, Nasiru and I opened the door for Usman, who was holding a torchlight.
Immediately after seeing us, the deceased came out from under his bed, picked up something from under it, and started arguing with Nasiru.
“During the struggle, the deceased fell down, and when he fell down, we used a rope to hang clothes to tire him, and he never spoke again.”. The car keys were picked up and we left.”
Nasiru Salisu, 27, said that Bashir involved him in the operation.
Nasiru, a first-time offender living in Kawo, said Bashir tied the victim up after they struggled.
He said he bought 23 bags of rice with his share of the money, but the bags were intercepted by customs.
Usman DanKano, the third suspect, is still at large.
According to ASP Muhammad Jalige, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, the suspects have confessed to carrying out the offence and that the vehicle was sold in Niger Republic for N1 million with the proceeds shared among them.
The investigation is ongoing to bring the fleeing suspect to justice and prosecute him diligently.
