African Union Condemns Massacre Of Citizens In Lagos State

The African Union(AU) is strongly against the deadly violence which occurred in Lagos State. He called on different parties to 'priviledge dialogue

Moussa Faki Mahandi office said in a statement this day being Thursday 22nd October ,2020. Moussa Faki Mahandi is currently the Chairperson of the African Union Commission(AUC). He hails from Chad.

The statement claims that he strongly condemns the violence that erupted on the 20th of October, 2020 in two separate locations in the state which resulted to massive death.

The statement went on to give notice that the Chairperson appeals to all political and social actors to rebut the use of violence and urges people to respect human rights and the rule of law.

According to Amnesty International, twelve people(12) have being killed in those two regions in Lagos and at least 56 people have died across Nigeria since October 8th, the beginning of #EndSARS and 38 people killed nationwide just on Tuesday.

Faki's statement did not specifically denounce security forces actions. He welcomed Nigerian's decision to dissolve the Police's loathed SARS.
