What A Catastrophe Involving Police And Arm Robbers In Ogun State

Two arm robbers have been shot dead by the operatives of the Ogun State police command during a robbery attack at a phone and electronics warehouse on Wednesday, 3rd February 2021 in Ijebu Ode while one of the armed robbers was captured alive by the police. 

This statement was issued by the DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi who is the police public relations officer of the Ogun State police command. He stated that the police swung into action after receiving an emergency call from a member of a vigilante group.

The DPO of the Igbeba police division received a call concerning robbery attack at a warehouse dealing with phones and electronics in Oyingbo, Ijebu Ode local government of the state. The robbers are said to have been Armed with some powerful armory. 

The statement read; "Upon the distress call, the DPO mobilized his patrol team in-conjunction with So-Safe-Corp, and moved to the scene."

He said that on the arrival of the police officers at the scene of the crime, the well armed arm robbers without wasting time started shooting at the police sporadically for more than an hour.

The statement read;  “On sighting the policemen, the robbers engaged them in a gun battle for about an hour, at the end of which two members of the gang were fatally shot and one arrested. Others escaped in their standby vehicle with various degrees of gunshot injuries."

Having been able to apprehend one of the robbers and while answering questions, he stated that they were 8 in number coming from Lagos to carry out the operation.

The statement read; "On interrogation, the arrested one who identified himself as Isiaka Yakubu, an indigene of Yauri in Zamfara State claimed that the group was eight in number and they came from Lagos State where they have been hiding for some days before coming to Ijebu-ode for the operation."

Items recovered from them are phones, electronics, one locally-made gun, Two cutlasses, an iron cutter, an iron chisel, and items worth N6 million stolen from the warehouse. 

Edward Ajagun who is the Ogun State police commissioner commends the efforts of the police and urges the general public to report any suspicious movements in their areas mostly hospitals because the escaped robbers may run to the hospital for treatment.

A Call For Concern: 40 People With AK-47 Rifles, See What The Police Said About It

The report has it that forty (40) suspected kidnappers, cattle rustlers, and also culpable homicidal have been arrested by the Adamawa State police command.

This information was made available for newsmen by the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police in the person of Adamu Aliyu on Monday the 15th day of February 2021 in Yola, the state capital.

Mr. Adamu Aliyu disclosed that the police were able to crackdown the suspects after they received various information from well-meaning Nigerians about the activities of the suspects in the area. However, the arrest was made possible through the assistance of some hunters in the area.

Some discovery emerges during the investigation showing that four of the suspects arrested are those behind the kidnapped of Mayo Farang who is the district head of the Mayo local government area of Adamawa State. 

The police spokesperson further stated that some items were recovered from the suspects after arresting them. The items are Eight (8) powerful AK-47 rifles, a bus, the sum of 1.13 million Naira cash, and as well as one locally made pistol. 

Mr. Adamu Aliyu further stated that all that suspects would be charged to court immediately investigation is completed.

The commissioner of police, therefore, plead with those residing in the state to always assist the police and other security operatives by providing them with adequate information that can be of help to curb crime in the state. 

The rate of crime in the state and Nigeria at large is alarming, mostly the crime of murder, kidnapping, and fraud, however, the police reinstate their commitment to the fight against crime in the state and Nigeria as a whole. 

Note that, the police can not succeed in the fight crime on their own, therefore, they need adequate information. Report any suspicious movements in your area to the police and help them to protect you and your properties.
