Ohanaeze Youths Criticize South East Govs For Not Declaring Their Stand On EndSARS Protest
~2.2 mins read
The youth wing of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Cultural group which is the apex Igbo Socio cultural group in the country has asked the south east governors to take a stand as it concerns the current EndSARS protest currently going on in the country.
The protest which started last week and has reached almost the whole part of the country has raised suspicions from some Nigerians while others have applauded the movement.
In a meeting of the northern governors forum held early this week, the governors, in a jointly signed communique made it known to Nigerians that they stand against the calls by youths to disband the police formation, the FSARS or Federal special anti robbery squad.
The move did not go well with the southeast region which has been the worst hit from the atrocities of the police unit.
The most talked about incident of the Awkuzu SARS is still fresh where the unit has been accused of killing innocent prisoners at will and also engaging in ritual killing.
To further make their stand known after the position of the northern governors was made public, the Igbo youths today called on the 5 governors of the south eastern state to make their stand also known to the public.
The youth organization made this position known in Owerri through the National Publicity Secretary, Osmond Nkeoma,
In a brief statement by the group, they made it known that the Northern Governors Forum had, within 48 hours of the disbandment of SARS, made their position public, they also asked the southeastern governors to also state their positions as their subjects see them as stooges.
The group also called on the governors to hasten their positions to show the region that they were not anti-Igbo as they are rumored to be.
