Protesters in Washington, D.C., hold up a lighted sign as fireworks lit up the sky around Washington Monument after President Donald J. Trump delivered his acceptance speech at the White House during the 2020 Republican National Convention Thursday night.

The sign -- reading "TRUMP FAILED 180000+ DIED" -- criticized the president's response to the coronavirus pandemic and referred to the death toll of Americans who lost their lives to COVID-19 as of Thursday.
