Uganda Government Shutdown All Social Media Platforms Until Further Notice
~1.0 mins read
Uganda ordered internet service providers to block all social media platforms and messaging apps on Tuesday until further notice, a letter from the country’s communications regulator seen by Reuters said.
Users had complained earlier on Tuesday that they were unable to access Facebook and WhatsApp, social media platforms being widely used for campaigning ahead of Thursday’s presidential election in the East African country.
“Uganda Communications Commission hereby directs you to immediately suspend any access and use, direct or otherwise, of all social media platforms and online messaging applications over your network until further notice,†said the letter from the commission’s executive director to internet providers.
The commission’s spokesman Ibrahim Bbossa and government spokesman Ofwono Opondo did not answer calls requesting comment. An aide to Minister of Information Judith Nabakooba said she was unable to comment at the moment.
A source in Uganda’s telecom sector said the government had made clear to executives at telecoms companies that the social media ban was in retaliation for Facebook blocking some pro-government accounts.
The U.S. social media giant said on Monday it had taken down a network in Uganda linked to the country’s Ministry of Information for using fake and duplicate accounts to post ahead of this week’s election.

MEET President Buhari's Only Surviving Sister
~2.5 mins read
Muhammadu Buhari GCFR assumed the seat of Presidency since 2015 as the president of Nigeria. Buhari is a retired military general of the Nigerian Army and previously served as military head of state from 1983 to 1985, after taking power in a military coup d'etat.
The term Buharism is ascribed to the conservative right wing policies of his military regime. Buhari has stated that he takes responsibility for anything over which he presided during his military rule, and that he cannot change the past.
Muhammadu Buhari was born to a Fulani family on 17 December 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, to his father Mallam Hardo Adamu, a Fulani chieftain, and his mother Zulaihat. He is the twenty-third child of his father. Buhari was raised by his mother, after his father died when he was about four years old. He attended primary school in Daura and Mai'adua, in 1953, Katsina Middle School, and attended Katsina Provincial Secondary School from 1956
President Buhari had no fewer the 28 siblings considering the ties he has with children of his biological father, Hardo Adamu and those he had with his half brother in his mother's previous marriage. However their is just one surviving sibling left, Hajiya Rakiya Adamu who also doubles as president Buhari elder sister
President Buhari was the youngest in the family which consisted of 28 children. His father, Adamu Buhari, died when he was barely four years old. Due to this, his mother, Zulaihat Buhari, had no choice but to bring up him and her other children on her own.
In majority of families at the time, children become more involved in the military when they come of age. In 1961 Muhammadu Buhari enrolled as a member of Nigerian military training college in Kaduna, then - Cadet school in Aldershot (UK), and subsequently - Army Mechanical Transport School in Borden (UK).
Hajiya Rakiya is the only surviving sister of President Buhari indeed her resemblance to president Muhammadu Buhari is quite obvious. Aside offering moral support to his brother, Hajiya Rakiya has contributed a lot to helping Buhari identify his family ties
Hajia Rakiya Adamu, was in all social media platforms sometime in 2017 after being rumored to be the younger sister for being the younger sister to president Buhari with age at 84.
But the rumor was later quashed and it was confirmed directly from her through an interview with the Nigerian news agency that she's Buhari’s Older sister at 84 now 87 years old. It is presumed that She was born around 1932.
It was also confirmed that their mother died in 1992 of which President Buhari was their last born.
Buhari’s date of birth is recorded as 17 December 1942. While his sister’s exact date of birth is not known, it was by all accounts not in 1949, and she is older than him, not younger.
We can also recall that she had always been instrumental to the life and success of President Buhari and remember that around August 2018, the eldest sister of President Buhari, Buhari’s only surviving sister, Hajia Rakiya Adamu hosted some of the top APC leaders during their visit to kastina state for a rally. Vice president Osinbajo, Adams Oshomole and governor Ganduje of Kano was also among the team
Rakiya Adamu, the only surviving sister of President Muhammadu Buhari, has always appealed to Nigerians to pray for her brother, President Buhari all the time instead of fighting him
