HOW TO MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE
~20.2 mins read
There is no greater time than now to begin to live your dreams. You can make your dreams come true if you put in the effort and make a reasonable plan. All you have to do is know what you want and take baby steps to be on your path to success. There will be some bumps along the way, but if you learn from your setbacks, you'll be even more likely to get what you've always wanted in the end. Want to know how to make your dreams come true? See Step 1 to get started.
Part 1 of 2:Making a Plan
Part 1 of 2:
1
Be specific about your dream. The first thing you need to do is to be specific about your dream so you can be on your way to making it happen. One way to be very specific about your dreams is to write them in your dream journal or in a notebook. If you don't know what you really want, then you can't achieve it, can you? However, you can still start on your path before being 100% sure of what will happen. You just have to have an idea of what you want to happen and then find a way to narrow it down as you move closer and closer to your dream. For example, let's say you've always loved writing and want to be a real writer at the end of the day. You may not know whether you want to write novels, be a journalist, or even be an inspirational blogger, but you may have a better sense of what you want as you move in the right direction. Don't worry if you don't have it all figured out. Maybe your dream is just to find a job that makes you feel like you're making a real difference in the world. There are many ways to make this happen, and having a broad goal will help you get there.
2
Turn your dream into a burning desire. You will need to turn your dream into a burning desire in your heart. A strong will to achieve your dreams boosts self-confidence and will aid you in pulling through some of the worst stages of life. The way to turn your dream into a burning desire is to believe that your dream is achievable and that you can actually achieve it. If you just look at it as a general wish, such as losing five pounds this year, or wanting to move somewhere sunny without really doing it, then you won't be able to take it seriously.Once it has become a burning desire you are no longer to refer to it as a dream, because the very nature of a dream gives the impression that it is not real. You have to start thinking of it as something more. It is important to move from dream to burning desire, to goal. Only a goal can be approached.
3
Turn your burning desires into goals. You then need to turn your burning desire into a goal. You had earlier turned your dream into a burning desire because you believe it can be done and that you can do it. But to actually turn it into a goal, you need to believe that you will do it. This kind of believing is based on your commitment that if it can be done then you can do it, and that if you can do it, you can do it now. The thing about goals is they are time sensitive, so adding a time frame helps you to accept the fact that you are committed to doing it.[1]Once you have turned your burning desire into a goal, you are no longer to call it a burning desire or a dream; it is now your goal in life, a goal that must be achieved by you.
4
Plan. Create a strategic plan of action. You will need to create a strategy for the accomplishment of your goals; this strategy is usually called a plan or a plan of action. There is no universal plan of action for everyone; each strategy depends on the person involved and the goals they wish to accomplish; because of this fact, the key to creating your own working plan of action lies in you and you need to seek it out.[2]Write down every step of your plan. Having it written down can help you feel that it is more concrete and doable. Just remember that life isn't so cut and dry and that you may not neatly be able to check off one goal after the other, and that you may end up changing some of the necessary steps for achieving your dreams or re-imagine a new path along the way.
5
Take action now. Once you have turned your goals into a plan of action tailored to you, you need to take action and utilize every opportunity that will come your way. It's time to stop making excuses, and to keep putting off until tomorrow what can be done today. Sure, there are always great reasons to put off achieving your dreams, such as having to plan your wedding, going through a busy time at work, getting embroiled in a complicated relationship, and so on, but if you have this attitude, you can end up making excuses forever and won't ever get a thing done. The way of the universe is that like attracts like and where there is a need, the universe seems to find a way of meeting those needs through opportunities. You need to be prepared for them as you take action on your plans to achieve your goals which will help you actualize your burning desire and make your dream a reality.
6
Set short-term goals. Divide your main goal into sub-divisions, and set time periods for achieving each of the items on the list. It's all about taking baby steps. For example, if your dream is to write a novel, you can start by taking a writing workshop in your area, or even trying your hand at writing a five page story. If you jump right into the novel, it'll be harder to get the job done without building up a strong foundation that gives you the skills you really need to achieve your dreams.[3]When you're forming short-term goals to reach your dream, or even thinking about long term goals to do so, it can really help to get advice from people in the field, whether they are close friends or acquaintances, to see how they did it. This will help you get a better sense of what those goals should be, and how realistic and doable they really are. If you don't meet a deadline, try to shake it off. Then set another date that is more realistic for you.
7
Review your progress regularly. As you start on the path to making your dreams come true, it's important to have a sense of what you are accomplishing. Though Rome wasn't built in a day and you may not be progressing as quickly as you wanted, it's important to have a sense that you are moving forward.[4] Here are some things you should look out for as you develop your own personal progress report:If you have achieved your goals for that time period. If you still have a desire to follow your dream. If you have deviated from the path toward fulfilling your goal.
8
Enjoy the journey. The most important thing is not to think that your life is terrible and that you'll only find happiness once you achieve your dream. In fact, once you achieve your dream and the euphoria has worn off, you'll find that you may return to your natural state of being and will be hungry for a new dream. This kind of longing and forward thinking is perfectly normal, so you should enjoy following every step of the way instead of thinking that you'll only be happy/feel proud of yourself/feel like your life has meaning after you've achieved your goal. Instead, enjoy every step of the way and be proud of yourself the whole way through.

10 Lessons Learned From A Crisis
~3.5 mins read
ìEvery crisis or disaster carries with it valuable lessons. A crisis is a "perception or experience of an event or situation as an intolerable difficulty that exceeds the person's current resources and coping mechanisms."
While a crisis typically represents an ordeal, hardship, or threat, it also offers opportunities for personal growth through lessons learned.
Here are 10 important lessons learned from a crisis:
1. Life is short; savor and make the most of it. As many of us rush through life we forget, or neglect to take time to enjoy the little things. The aftermath of a crisis can remind you of what you're missing.
"Savoring" the moment becomes more important after you have endured difficulty. There are many special, beautiful moments such as the sunset, a fragrant breeze, the laugh of a child, or the kindness of a stranger that often get lost in hurry, rush, or preoccupation with everything else.
2. Reflect upon the meaning of life and what it means to you. Going through adversity or difficult times can hurl a person into an existential crisis. When that happens we question whether life has meaning or purpose. After all, we will all die someday.
Life has as much meaning as you give it. The point is to enjoy everything life has to offer; give it purpose and meaning while you are here - make it count. If you live for the act of "being," your life becomes about living fully and purposefully.
3. Reevaluate your priorities. Decide what is really important. Once you have established what you want your life to be, decide what is most important. "Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least."
Take time to write out what your various life goals are. List your health, career, relationship, and spiritual goals. Breaking down your priorities into meaningful goals helps identify what's important to you and how you can achieve it.
4. Appreciate what you have. There is nothing like a crisis to remind us how fortunate we really are. When we get caught up in daily life and normal routines, we rarely contemplate our privileges and opportunities. However, the possibility of any type of loss during a crisis is more than enough to bring us back to what is good in our lives.
5. The importance of health - health is real is wealth. If it's a health crisis you've survived, the gratitude and relief experienced at its end are more than enough to compel you to live a healthier, less stressful lifestyle. Nothing matters if you are not well enough to enjoy it.
6. Be proactive rather than reactive. Lack of preparation and forethought can often lead to a crisis. If you don't plan for that career interruption, financial setback, or illness, the consequences can be dire. Understanding that anything can happen, to be proactive will put you in the driver's seat while merely reacting to catastrophe could make it difficult to recover. While you may not always fully avoid a crisis, you can lessen its impact by being prepared.
7. Getting through a crisis makes you stronger. Researchers have found that those who have experienced a crisis or stressful event in their lives have more confidence in their abilities to overcome challenges and adversity. They likewise exhibit a renewed appreciation for life; enjoy stronger more meaningful relationships, and experience spiritual growth.
8. A crisis offers invaluable insight. Getting through a crisis can teach you what went wrong and why. It has the potential to help you avoid similar mistakes; learn to plan better; be aware of the potential pitfalls, and ultimately execute your objectives more successfully. Live and learn.
9. You discover what you're made of. You may not realize how strong you are until you survive a crisis. It takes courage, intestinal fortitude, and perseverance to get through tough times. That's not to say you will not experience self-doubt, fear, and uncertainty, however; having dug deep you will discover unexpected inner strength and resolve.
10. Know that there is an ebb and flow to life and this too shall pass. Nothing stays the same - good or bad; everything comes to an end. We can prepare for ebb in life by understanding it exists and by taking time for self-reflection and renewal. Hard times offer the opportunity to change course if needed, reinvent ourselves, or to take stock of our lives. Without ebb, we would not appreciate and savor flow when it arrives. The Roman poet Ovid said:
"There is nothing constant in the universe. All ebb and flow, and every shape that's born, bears in its womb the seeds of change."
Throughout our lives, we are faced with a variety of crises that offer us opportunities to learn invaluable lessons that will not only strengthen our will and character, they also prepare us for what may lie ahead.
