Skipping Meals Is Not The Real Cause Of Ulcer, See The Real Causes Of Ulcer.
~2.0 mins read
Isn't it funny that what you may have believed your whole life isn't quite true? When I was grow my mom always told warned me that I'll get ulcer if I keep Skipping meals and that always made me eat even in though I didn't have the appetite. So I decided to test that theory some days back and I found out that not eating doesn't .cause stomach ulcer, atleast for a short period of time. If skipping food caused ulcer then I think almost all pastors who fast should have ulcer. The only way it can cause ulcer is if a person goes for weeks or even month (which of cause the person will die) without food. So it is very much unlikely that a individual will get ulcer from skipping meals.
So below are the major causes of ulcer.
1. AN INFECTION: An infection from the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. Pylori). H. pylori are spiral-shaped bacteria that can cause peptic ulcer disease by damaging the mucous coating that protects the lining of the stomach and duodenum. Once H. pylori have damaged the mucous coating, powerful stomach acid can get through to the sensitive lining. This results in ulcer.
2. LONG TERM USE OF NONSTEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS: (NSAID's) such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen.
To understand how NSAIDs cause peptic ulcer disease, it is important to understand how NSAIDs work. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs reduce pain, fever, and inflammation, or swelling.
Everyone has two enzymes that produce chemicals in your body’s cells that promote pain, inflammation, and fever. NSAIDs work by blocking or reducing the amount of these enzymes that your body makes. However, one of the enzymes also produces another type of chemical that protects the stomach lining from stomach acid and helps control bleeding. When NSAIDs block or reduce the amount of this enzyme in your body, they also increase your chance of developing a peptic ulcer.
3. ZOLLINGER-ELLISON SYNDROME:
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is a rare disorder that happens when one or more tumors form in your pancreas and duodenum. The tumors release large amounts of gastrin, a hormone that causes your stomach to produce large amounts of acid. The extra acid causes peptic ulcers to form in your duodenum and in the upper intestine. This leads to ulcer but it's not very common, it only occurs in 1% of all ulcers cases.
