Common Mistakes Young People Make In Life That Could Affect Them
~2.6 mins read
Good day everyone. How's everything going?
Today I'll write about the mistakes young people make in life. Young people are inexperienced, wanting to explore their youth but they go ahead to make some errors that stop them from moving forward.
1. Lack of Focus.
'O boy, you dey lose concentration'
Focusing on the thing that concerns you is difficult. There are many things in this world. Many sports to play, many courses to read, many books to read, many people to meet. Young people try to do it all. They register for different courses online therefore spreading themselves thinly.
As they say, a master of all trades is a master of none. Focus on your strengths and passion and develop it to the fullness. Don't go for your weakness that you have no talent or passion for because of the money behind it. Unless it's necessary, you may live to regret it.
2. Reading the wrong books/ Not Reading at all
Readers are Leaders . The kind of books you read shapes who you will be in the future. A hopeless romantic would have read a lot of romance novels or love poems. In some books, there are secrets that you won't see on TV.
3. Wasting time on less important things
Young people go to clubs, get drunk, wake up late and their day is off. The cycle repeats itself. As a wise man once said, and to summarize it (Not his exact words) 'Time is infinite, it's not Time that's limited as people say, it's human life.
Life is too short to be spent watching shows like BBN for 18 hours straight for 7 days. There are better things to do, better skills to learn, new books to read.
Add value to your life.
4. Poor friend selection.
You want to be successful in life and you walk with people that don't take life seriously. Ladies and Gentlemen, you are a call away from doom.
You must have heard of 'show me your friend and I'll tell you who you are'. Birds of the same kind, move together. You will never see two people move together as friends unless they have the same beliefs and values. Having good friends makes you want to push yourself to be better.
5. Not reading the word.
This the most important on the list. Reading the Holy book is important be it Quran or Bible. It establishes a connection between you and the Word,i.e God. Knowing God sets your path.
If you pass through troubles, instead of going through social vices that could lead to jail, reading the word tells you more about the world.
6. Comparing yourself with your friends
You came to this world separately. Your destiny isn't tied to that of your friends so don't do anything your friends do.
Your friend could have rich parents who are into business, and decided to drop out of school. Your own case is different, you don't have to leave school.
Don't compete with people, do your best. When you compare yourself with people, it looks like you are not good enough , or you are poor.
