5 Things Rich People Never Do But Will Advise You
~4.7 mins read

The best way to learn from rich, successful people is to watch what they do, not listen to what they say.

As I said on the last week of NL Motivational Monday, rich people are the ones who have money for themselves while the poor people are the ones who work for money.

If you haven't reached the stage where money is working for you, you are still poor.

Here, being poor does not mean begging for food in the street, these are extreme cases of poverty.

The rich are the ones who have invested money in a business that is now making them big money.

In most cases, they don't work their asses out for money, their money works for them.

You can be lazy and still rich, you can be hardworking and still poor.

The truth is, we tend to glorify the rich people, we want to be like them, so chances are we will want to do whatever they tell us to do.

Fine!!  They may have some wisdom, but the truth is that most of the things they tell you are things they don't do themselves, which leads you into a worse state of life.

Below are 5 things rich people advise but never do

  1. Save money

Don't be surprised, rich people don't save money, but if you have the opportunity to speak to them, they will advise you to have a money-saving culture.

It's not really their fault, it's normal for a rich man with a lot of money to advise a poor man to save.

A rich man does not save, in fact they do not have to save because the money is already plentiful.

The rich don't save money, they invest money.  You buy assets and investments.

The only thing that can save you money is self-financial discipline.  So use your head !!

  2. Cut down on expenses

Reducing your expenses sounds like wise advice, but you need to think differently.

Don't get it wrong, when things are going bad it is normal to cut your spending, but once you make spending less a habit you will appear broke to the people who are supposed to do big business with you.

I have a friend who, by grace, made his first million on his job and used all of that money to buy a good car.

After buying the car, life changed for him and his income increased because people now trust him for millions of naira deals because they believe he is already worth it.

This is one of the reasons rich people purposely throw lavish parties or flaunt their wealth in various ways.  This is because they want to have an advantage when negotiating with their business partners.

This does not mean that you should celebrate Santa Claus with money.  If you're not spending on investing, make sure you are spending cash to pack yourself well for bigger opportunities.

  3. Get out of debt

Rich people use the money to make money, so they are not always afraid of running into more debt.

For many of the big companies you see today, the starting capital could come from a loan.

I know a real estate developer in Lekki who will borrow millions of naira from banks, buy land and use the money to develop a range of properties.

After selling the property, he always posts millions in profits after paying off bank debts with interest.

The only difference is that poor people go into debt to buy debts like cars, phones, and other things that are worthless.

But rich people go into debt to run a realistic business for the purpose of making money.

  4. Go to school

Most super-rich people are dropouts.  In fact, people who go on to school after graduation have never settled into the ranks of the rich.

No doubt some rich people are still going to school, but they know when to drop out and get into the hustle and bustle of the real world because there is no school like the street.

The bitter truth is if you read, write, speak, and need skills in what you love to do, you probably have enough schooling.

Get into the real world, make mistakes and keep improving.

  5. Diversify

Rich people put their money into what they understand and guard it with armored tanks.

You will not see a rich man investing money in a business that he does not understand or over which he has no adequate control.

Rich people in the oil business don't build real estate unless they buy their own home.

As rich as people are, they believe so much in what they know and you won't see them jumping around on every new business idea.  However, knowing that you are not deeply rooted in any particular area, they advise you to diversify.

  Finally

If you want to be rich, you don't do what rich people say.  Instead, watch what they do.

Study their life stories.  Find those moments when they took a big leap and see what they did and how they did it.  Here's a look at what steps they actually took to move up.

  Guys do you agree?

What other things do rich people advise but never will?
