Postinor2(P2); What Everyone Should Know About The Popular Drug
~1.6 mins read
Postinor is a contraceptive not an abortion drug. Some call it an emergency contraceptive. Simply put, it is intended to avoid a pregnancy not to remove one. Do take note please. By definition, a contraceptive works to prevent conception as a result of unprotected intercourse. Please it doesn't remove. More so, it doesn't always work. Guarantee is time dependent. Read on to understand more.
P2 as it is commonly called in local parlance is a very popular contraceptive or more broadly, birth control drug.
The active ingredient of postinor 2(which is a brand name) is levonorgestrel.
Basically postinor is taken by women after unprotected sex. But you have to understand that postinor 2 doesn't always guarantee a no pregnancy situation. The effect depends on the time frame of taking the drug.
Ideally, P2 is an emergency contraceptive and should be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. 85% of pregnancies have been proven to be avoided this way. However, 95% of pregnancies have been avoided when taken within 24 hours of the affair.
So basically postinor works with time, the sooner the better. Take the first tablet not more than 72 hours later. Then the second tablet should be taken exactly 12 hours after the first.
When not to take?
-If you suffer from high blood pressure
-If you are already pregnant (it is taken to avoid pregnancy not to remove one)
-if you are typically below 16 years.
-see a qualified doctor if you vomit within the first two hours of taking.
Now note that all drugs have side effects. So don't be alarmed when you notice side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, headaches, tender breasts, increased vaginal bleedings, stomach pain, diarrhoea. However if these effects persist too long, do see a doctor.
Finally, dear reader, if you must have sex this period, do well to be protected. Unprotected sex leads to a lot of heart breaks and very difficult situations.
Never ever abort that child! Prevent the pregnancy instead.

How Licking Your Lips Can Stop Them From Becoming Pink
~3.2 mins read
In this stereotype ridden age of ours, a lot of things that didn't used to matter now do. There a lot of standards set unknowingly of how one should look, walk, talk, eat and the standards vary for every age bracket. Whether this is because of the countless pictures of our various favorite celebrities at our daily disposal, one cannot really say.
A lady must be slim, a guy must be well built, a lady should be well endowed by all means, a guy must have abs, a guy must be this, a lady must be that. It's startling the standards we have set for ourselves.
One of such standards rampant mainly amongst teenagers is pink lips. The craze for pink lips is so wide spread that in universities and various beauty stores, there are a thousand and one beauty brands offering creams, balms, oils, moisturizers and so on that will supposedly give you pink lips in a short space of time.
Well we can't complain, can we? It's one of those things that has come to stay amongst us. Now if you're not among those that want to have pink lips by all means, then this article is not for you. If you're, then continue reading.
As the headline says, a very common bad habit that seems harmless can deny you pink lips. No it's not smoking. Can you guess what it is?
Well I will tell you. The habit is licking your lips. I bet you're screaming Jesus in your mind now. Yes, licking your lips is a habit that can deny you having pink lips(I just licked mine 47 seconds ago). It's something we all do. My Dad has a very strong hatred for the habit. I can't count how many times he has tried to stop me. I bet you're now asking ' Oga writer, how can it stop pink lips? Explain now'.
If you can recall when you were a baby or when you were much younger, you had soft pink lips. Everyone probably wanted to kiss you. Growing up however, your lips have darkened due to detrimental habits like smoking, using bad lipsticks and as featured in this article licking your lips.
According to dermatologist Dr Kiran Lohia, the lips is thin and doesn't have any protective covering like every other skin on our body. Therefore, when we lick our skin, they get inflammed, irritated and darkened. More so, remember the saliva is home to various enzymes involved in breaking down food. Like amylase for carbohydrates. Imagine how irritating something that otherwise breaks down food can be on such a thin layer of the body. I bet if lips could talk on their own, they would beg us to stop licking them.
Finally, some of us do this especially when we realise how dry our lips is. Please stop. Licking your lips when it's dry only makes it drier leading to a vicious cycle that not only darkens your lips but the upper and lower areas around it. If you can recall your childhood during harmattan. Your parents must have warned you, even spanked you(like mine did) for licking your lips. And you were like 'but it's dry!' Well they never explained to you why but now you know. Licking your lips because it is dry only makes it drier, making the lips loose it's appearance and texture.
Advice: Find any good lip balm instead. And don't use them often. Those things are all chemical/synthetic. In fact I will suggest petroleum jelly or Vaseline as we know it. Apply it at least an hour before bed. Make sure you've had your dinner. More so, for our ladies, please don't use just any lipstick. Find a good lipstick and stick to it. Lastly, no matter how dry your lips is, resist the urge to lick it.
