Most foods we consume are canned. Food is mostly canned as a method of preserving it for sales and storage. Canned foods are packed with a lot of soduim and unhealthy preservatives which makes them last longer. But if the soduim and preservatives are excess the food will have adverse effects on your health and that is why you should limit your intake of canned foods.
Here are the three things you should know when consuming canned foods.
1. Canned food may contain BPA: BPA means Bisphenol which is a harmful chemical used for packaging can foods . It causes metabolic diseases, cardiovascular diseases and increases the chances of having type 2 diabetes.
2. Canned food contains excess salt and sugar: If you want to loose weight then canned food is not for you. The excess salt and sugar contained in canned food can worsen your health condition or increase the risk of developing critical health conditions.
3. Some canned food contains bacteria: This are canned food that have dent holes in them. A bacteria called Clostridium botilinum can form in canned food which can lead to severe illness known as Botulism which is hard for people to treat and they end up dying from it.
Not all canned food are bad. But before buying canned food make sure the can is not dented, look out for BPA and buy canned food with little or no soduim. Thanks for reading.
