The 5 Unusual Festivals Found Only In Nigeria

Nigeria is a country blessed with natural resources, cultural heritage etc. Today we will be writing aboard "The 5 Unusual Festival Found Only In Nigeria.
1. The first on out list is the Osun Festival. At the end of the raining season in August, the Osun Festival is held at the Oshogbo Sacred Forest for seven days, the Osun devotees celebrates the river goddess, Oshun where the deity priests conduct rituals for protection of the locals.
2. The second on our list is the Argungu Fishing Festival, this fishing festival is held at a village called Argungu in Kebbi State. This festival being held for four days and thousands of competitors are seen inside the Malan Fada River to catch the biggest fishes with either traditional fishing nets or with their bare hands. Imagine catching fishes that weighs more than a human with bare hands; this makes the festival very unusual.
3. The third on our list is the Sango Festival, the colorful Sango is done to honour the god of thunder in Oyo State. In this festival the Sango faithful are all dressed in red while the Ifa priests are clothed in white. Masquerades, drummers and hundreds of traditional dancers are always seen.
4. The fourth on our list is the Eyo Festival, a Yoruba festival unique to Lagos, Nigeria. In modern times, it is presented by the people of Lagos as a tourist event and due to its history, is traditionally performed on Lagos.
5. The last but not the least is the Onitsha Ivory Festival, this festival comprises mostly of women, we have talked about the festivals that are mostly dominated by the men, wives of wealthy men are seen collecting ivory and coral that would be used to design their own costumes. Any woman who has been able to acquired plenty coral and ivory to decorate her ivory costume will be given the title ‘Ozo’ An Ivory holder.
