The English Names For Some Kitchen Utensils
~1.1 mins read
So many things are used daily in the kitchen without knowing the real English names.
My neighbour sells kitchen stuffs, so I went to patronise her. I arrived and asked her for a spatula. She didn't know what that was and couldn't repronounce it again. And the time I went to a shop and told the shopkeeper I wanted tomato paste, I had to point at it because it was right beside him.
Well here are the real names of some kitchen utensils:
1. Spatula: this is used for cooking. There are two types as you can see in the pictures above, they are mostly used for frying, stirring and sautéing.
2. Strainer spoon: this is different from spatula and is used to strain food or snacks from water or oil.
3. Colander: this is used after cooking to remove excess or leftover water and oil from the food, e.g spaghetti and Akara.
4. Tomato paste: just wanted to add this here because it is usually called by the brand name.
5. Strainer and mesh strainer: they serve the functions of sieve and colander.
6. Serving spoon: some actually call it big spoon, and as the name implies it is for serving food.
7. Ladle: used for serving soup.
8. Grater: also called shredder.

How To Make Peanut Brittle
~1.0 mins read
I don't like eating roasted peanuts much, so whenever I have it, I make a peanut Brittle. It's easy to make with two ingredients only and children love it.

Ingredients:

Sugar

Roasted peanuts

How to make:

Make sure your roasted peanuts are clean and free from any form of dirt.

Break them into two halves.
Now get as much or less sugar as you want. Preferably the same quantity of the peanuts or half of it.

Put the sugar and little amount of water in a pan and keep stirring over low heat until the sugar becomes brown and turns into caramel (don't let it burn).
Turn off the heat, quickly pour in your peanuts and stir thoroughly, then quickly pour all of it on a metal or wooden surface.

Use a rolling pin or spoon to spread it and then cut.
Be quick or else it will harden before you cut using a knife.

For more flavor you can add a teaspoonful of butter to the caramel before adding the peanuts.

Let it cool before eating.
Enjoy!
