See How Amotekun Officer Killed A Young Boy In Ibadan And What Happened To Him

In a statement released by the security services on Thursday, the state Commandant of Amotekun, Olayanju Olayinka, said the agency had been alerted to the theft at Total Filling Station, Mokola, Ibadan and sent a team of seven people to the area.
He said the team later found out it was not a robbery attack, although people had gathered.
According to him, "In the ensuing chaos, Afolabi (Amotekun Operative) fired a shot at the Victim because he violated Amotekun's Protocol, the team leader and seven of his teammates arrived at the scene. It simply came to our notice then that this was not a military robbery, despite the fact that people had gathered. The captain (Amotekun's State Commander), noticing that there danger in the scene, immediately went to the manager. While he was with the Station Manager, he heard gunshots".
"As the case may be, one of his teammates, Afolabi Kazeem, that was threatened by the crowd, which includes hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons, fired a shot into the air in other to scare them away.The shot mistakenly hit one Mr. Tosin Thomas, 23, who was confirmed dead at the scene. Amotekun has discovered that Afolabi Kazeem has AM031849 ammunition operating outside the Tigers Corps command. He has was dismissed from the Security Operaive and handed over to the Corps for trial".
"The Amotekun Corps is deeply saddened by the death on the Thomas family. We already have contact with the family", he concluded.
