Rassie Erasmus Has Been Suspended From Rugby For Two Months Due To His Actions During The Lions Tour
~0.7 mins read
After six counts of misconduct against him were sustained, South Africa’s director of rugby, Rassie Erasmus, was suspended from all rugby activities for two months. World Rugby launched the allegations after Erasmus’ behavior toward match officials during the Springboks’ 2-1 series victory over the British and Irish Lions last summer.
Erasmus is also barred from participating in any match-day activities, including coaching and media appearances, until September 30, 2022. It means that the man behind South Africa’s World Cup victory will be absent from Saturday’s match against England at Twickenham.
In a statement, Erasmus and SA Rugby, who were also charged, stated that they will appeal the rulings. Starting with the Lions’ loss to South Africa A, Erasmus utilized social media to highlight refereeing errors, and following the first Test, he posted an hour-long video criticizing the officials’ performance.
