There are a whole lot of business ideas in Nigeria. However, the resources and time needed to establish some of these businesses always discourage some people.

Often times most people want to startup a business with a huge capital base, forgetting that there is such a thing as little beginning.

I remember 3 years ago I was discussing with a friend and I told him that I have about 200 thousand naira and I am thinking of what business to startup.

He laughed at me and said 200 thousand naira is not money, that to startup a business I would require at least a million naira. I laughed and today its all history, As i have made more money from my initial capital.

What am I trying to point out here? You don’t have to wait until you have millions before you start up a business. There are lots of small scale business that you can start with as low as 50 thousand naira in Nigeria today.

Also known as call card business. You will hardly find an adult in Nigeria without a phone; even kids these days have phones. This of cause explains the reason why this business is profitable, because call cards are in high demand on a daily basis.

I have a friend who set up his laundry business with less than 50k. This is business is one of the business that is growing really fast in Nigeria today. A lot of working class people are overwhelmed by work stress and would not want to use their weekends for chores, hence the search for laundry service.

3.   Eatery/Restaurant Business

As the popular saying goes…”Man must wack”. Restaurant business in Nigeria has been on the rice. As population increases so does demand for food. If you have good cooking skills you should look to set up a cooking business or you can hire people to assist you in cooking.

4.   Beer Parlour Business

5.   Party/Occasion Rental Business

A rental business is a good way to make extra cash and can turn into a big business in a long run. Depending on how you start up. Be it birthday party, naming ceremony, wedding. Provided it’s an occasion you are sure to rent out materials like canopy, chairs, tables etc. Knowing that people love to party in Nigeria.

 

6.   Poultry Farm Business

Poultry farming is one of the most lucrative agricultural business in Nigeria today that can make you thousands of Naira. You will treat it not just a chicken farmer but as an entrepreneur who has put all the calculated risk in place and is determined to make profit.

 

7.   Pig Farming Business

With pig farming you can get your return on investment within a very short time. Knowing that pigs multiply in huge numbers and when sold are very expensive.

 

8.   An Online Business

Starting an online business is not as technical as most people think. Having adequate finance and the necessary hardware in place will ensure that you start up your online business really fast.
