See How To Start A Small Scale Snail Farm
~1.5 mins read
Snail farming is a very profitable business in Nigeria if done well, since they feed mostly on leaves and fruits which are readily available. They can also feed on kitchen waste provided it didn't contain salt or chemicals. But before you runoff to get just any snail, you should know that there are two species that are the best for rearing these are Archarchtina marginata AM and Achatins achatina AA. These species grow big and reproduce fast and in large numbers.
On a small scale you can start your farm with buckets. Yes buckets old paint buckets. Place the bucket(s) on a small table and place the four legs of the table in small containers like old tomatoes paste containers, add water and a little engine oil to the containers, this is is to prevent ants from entering the bucket(s) fill the bucket half way with sand (loamy soil) and dried leaves. Then you can put your snails in the bucket, make sure the buckets are kept in a shady area. Then cover the top of the bucket with nets.
You can do as many of this as possible. Make sure one bucket doesn't contain more than 15 matured snails .
