Rice is the seed of the grass species Oryza glaberrima or Oryza sativa. As a cereal grain, it is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world's human population, especially in Asia and Africa. It is the agricultural commodity with the third-highest worldwide production, after sugarcane and maize.

A bag of Rice is no longer 30,000 naira. Because of the lockdown things became hard to produce. So prices increased. But now, Kano had started mass production of grains there reducing former prices to favourable ones.


This grains include, rice , millet , beans etc. Kano state is the has the highest number of famers and agricultural produce.



In 2020, 50kg bag of foreign rice is sold for N32, 000 while Nigerian rice is sold for N27, 000 due to the unstable economy and only wealthy citizens could afford eating rice on daily basis.
