King Sunny Ades Daughter Raises Alarm Over Fathers Whereabouts, Accuses Manager Of Isolation
~2.4 mins read
Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, daughter of legendary Nigerian juju musician King Sunny Ade, has raised alarm over her father’s whereabouts, claiming he has been unreachable for weeks. She accused his manager and stepbrother, Dayo Adegeye, of keeping the 78-year-old icon away from his family under suspicious conditions.
The matter came to public attention on Monday, April 28, 2025, when media personality @Akanbitheduke shared concerns on Instagram, revealing that efforts by close associates to contact the veteran performer had failed.
According to Damilola, the manager has been moving Sunny Ade from one hotel to another, isolating him while allegedly forcing him to continue performing despite his deteriorating health and the recent death of one of his daughters. She also alleged that he is being administered sleeping pills to manage insomnia, further accusing the handlers of expl%iting him financially, denying him access to his home and office, and manipulating his schedule for profit.
“The last time I spoke to my dad, he was clearly distr+ssed. Before we could talk, someone took the phone from him. Since then, I haven’t been able to reach him,” she wrote in an emotional social media post.
Screenshots of alleged conversations between Damilola, other family members, and the manager have surfaced online, intensifying public concern.
However, a close aide of King Sunny Ade dismissed the claims as false, telling Legit.ng that the music legend was spotted in Lagos recently, performing at an event. “We are on top of the situation,” the aide said, but offered no solid proof to ease growing fears.

Court Jails Notorious Investment Sc@mmer, Olaniyan Gbenga Amos, For 63 Years
~2.4 mins read
A Nigerian court has sentenced Olaniyan Gbenga Amos to 63 years in prison for defr@uding investors through bogus investment schemes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Justice Olusola Adetujoye of the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan, delivered the verdict on Monday, April 28, convicting Amos and his firm, Detorrid Heritage Investment Limited, on nine of 30 counts bordering on obtaining money under false pretence. The charges were filed by the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, Amos lured unsuspecting victims with false promises of 30% returns on investments within six weeks, using a f@ke investment platform linked to Crime Alert Security Network. One victim, Bada Titilope, was duped of N995,000, while another, Onifade Isaac Olawale, lost N920,000.
Amos had pleaded not guilty when arraigned on December 14, 2021. His trial began in February 2022 and concluded in October 2024, with the court eventually rejecting his no-case submission and ordering him to open his defence.
Justice Adetujoye sentenced Amos to seven years on each of the nine counts he was convicted of, with the sentences to run concurrently. The court also ordered him to pay restitution to his victims. He was acquitted on the remaining 21 counts.
This is not Amos’s first conviction. He was previously sentenced to 75 years in prison in December 2023 by another judge in a separate fr@ud case and is facing two more trials at Federal High Courts in Ibadan.
The EFCC said Amos’s fr@udulent schemes caused investor losses exceeding N1 billion.

Real Madrid Players Fined But Free To Face Arsenal
~0.8 mins read
Four Real Madrid players have been cleared to face Arsenal in their Champions League quarter-final despite three being punished by Uefa. Last month, European football's governing body opened an investigation into allegations of indecent conduct by Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Dani Ceballos during their last-16 win against Atletico Madrid. The four allegedly made gestures towards the home fans after Real beat their city rivals on penalties to book their place in the last eight. Uefa said on Friday that no disciplinary proceedings were brought against 24-year-old Brazil winger Vinicius. The other three Real players were found to have violated "the basic rules of decent conduct" under article 11(2)(b) of Uefa's disciplinary regulations. France striker Mbappe, 26, and Germany defender Rudiger, 32, were both given a suspended one-match ban and fined £25,000 (30,000 euros) and £35,000 (40,000 euros) respectively. Spain midfielder Ceballos, 28, was fined £17,000 (20,000 euros). Arsenal face Real in the first leg of their quarter-final at Emirates Stadium on 8 April, with the second leg at the Bernabeu on 16 April.

Suspended Rivers Governor Fubara Reportedly Visits Wike, Begs For Reconciliation
~2.3 mins read
Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, recently paid a visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at his Abuja residence in a bid to reconcile with his former political ally, PREMIUM TIMES has learned.
The visit, which reportedly took place on Friday, April 18, came shortly after Fubara met with President Bola Tinubu in London over his prolonged rift with Wike—a crisis that prompted the president to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspend Fubara along with other elected officials for six months.
Sources revealed that Fubara was accompanied to Wike’s home by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and former Ogun Governor Olusegun Osoba. At the meeting, Fubara was said to have prostrated before Wike, held his legs, and called him “My Oga” in a dramatic plea for forgiveness.
He reportedly stayed at Wike’s residence into the early hours of Saturday, April 19. Although details of the meeting remain undisclosed, insiders say Fubara was instructed to return to Rivers State and brief his supporters—particularly the elders—on the true cause of the conflict with Wike.
When contacted, Wike’s spokesperson Lere Olayinka confirmed the meeting but declined to share details. Fubara’s spokesperson, Nelson Chukwudi, refused to comment and directed enquiries to the Rivers Commissioner for Information, Joseph Johnson, who did not respond to calls.
