WHERE IS MY FIRST LOVE?
At first, she was quite excited about the announcement of my arrival. I could feel the touch of love every time she rubbed her protruding belly! I moved joyfully all through the nine months she carried me gracefully.
As soon as I arrived, it was a very elaborate party thrown in my honour. "Wow!" I marveled.
Then months after, I began to search for this love!
Now, she would quickly make my meal and drop me off with another woman who I am beginning to see more often than I see her.
I never have a moment with my dad! In fact I think I don't have one. Suddenly the music has stopped for me. While I see other kids have fun with their parents, I am left to just imagine it.
My only companion is my teddy bear and all he does is just stare at me with pity cos he knows that I'm now, an abandoned project!
Can someone tell me what happened?

THE LEGACY
(Where do we go, from here.)
Written by E PLUS The Storyteller.
Every time one thinks of the possibility to make headway, another reality sets in.
Quite often, one wonders if it's just pure rocket science, or the barricade of one's psychological makeup? Or else, how can one explain the situation of a country considered to be the world's most populous black nation endowed with so much wealth!
It beats one's imagination to think that the statistics are not adding up, yet so much is being tapped from us as a nation.
Do we have eyes yet cannot see? How much of our shortsightedness is affecting our great potentials to become a phenomenon that every other nation can reckon with?
What are the legacies we intend to set for generations to come? What values do we intend to inculcate in the lives of the young ones who look up to us?
Is it all about power play, razzmatazz and class? Are we unmindful of the reality that everything in life starts with a seed, and that you reap what you sow?
So, the question is: Where do we go from here?
Let's pause and ponder!

The next day, Ben was all set for work and he had asked me to prepare Oat meal and Pam Cakes so I added some vanilla cream to the oat, a twist to the taste, he always loved. I remember how he playfully swung my hands to his side.
"Make sure you prepare that Afang Soup o!" He teased.
"Don't worry, when I'm done, I will give you your bill." I responded as I tried very hard to be humourous and we all laughed but, my heart was very heavy. How was I to tell Ben that I had a date with my ex, Tokunbo!?
Somehow, I was going to figure out a way not to get caught. Immediately he drove off, I returned to the house and had my breakfast. As soon as I had my bath, my phone rang and it was Tokunbo who called. I allowed the phone to ring for a while before I received the call eventually.
"Are you asleep, madam?" Tokunbo teased but I was not in the mood for frivolities.
"I hope our date still stands?" He asked. Really that question tortured me the more, aside from the heaviness. I heaved a heavy sigh and struggled to give Tokunbo a response."Are you still there?" He probed further.
"I can hear you Tokunbo, I thought we had an agreement that you should send a text whenever you are there." I replied, feeling quite irritated.
"No problem, I just want to know how you are faring, I can't just get you off my head." Tokunbo said and I remained silent.
"Okay..I will send you a text, when it is time. I Love you Miss Rose. I really do." He added and, almost immediately, I dropped the call. Then, I continued to reflect on the day Tokunbo and his friends stormed my parents' house to beg for my forgiveness. I really did not see that coming but, I was more than determined to stand my ground that, there was no turning back! I remember when my mum and I were in the kitchen, one fateful evening, preparing pounded yam and ofe nsala, she turned to me and lamented:
"With the way you are going, are you sure you will get married at all?" Then I looked at her surprisingly.
"Ah han! Mama! Why are you saying such a thing nau?" I exclaimed. She laughed hysterically and dropped the knife she was using to cut the fish.
"See ehn, don't think I don't know what's happening in this house. For the fact that I don't say anything doesn't mean I am not seeing things o!" My mum continued.
At that point, I perceived she was referring to the recent incident that had occurred between Tokunbo and I.
"Well, Mama, Tokunbo is not the kind of man I want for a husband." I replied. My mum looked at me, sarcastically.
"Really? Oya, tell me the kind of husband you want?" She said. "Mama, you know nau! A man with temper, is not the ideal husband. Tokunbo is way too jealous and flips at the slightest provocation." I explained. My mum laughed for the umpteenth time. Then she drew me closer. "My daughter, let me explain things to you, that you may not understand. Nobody is perfect. Everyone has thier own shortcomings o! Yours might not be as serious as mine but that doesn't make you better. Tokunbo is a human being, not a spirit. If his temper is an issue, then you(both) can work it out." My Mum said.
I paused and pondered over her words and at some point began to consider giving Tokunbo a chance but, my friends had different opinions.
"Abeg! Leave that guy o! Na him go kill you, one day." Laura said, as we all went for shopping.
"You try to even still dey with that guy for so long! Wetin you see for him body sef?" Babi added.
"For your own good ehn, you better run for your life." Asabe said. My friends' voices kept echoing in my ears even when I tried hard to put the past behind me. Tokunbo had even bought me a new lab top for my project, on my birthday but my mind was made up. I still remembered, before the break up, how he would buy me expensive perfumes and beautiful dresses. Then during weekends, he would take me to my favourite suya spot(oh! How I miss that suya!). Tokunbo and I would spend hours eating and chatting, it was so much fun! As I continued to reflect on those moments, I slept off. Later that day, I quickly prepared the Afang soup and pounded yam, Ben had requested for. My heart was racing as I looked for the best dress to put on for the date I had with Tokunbo. I just wanted to use the mediun to let him know my position with him, once and for all, and I thought, the earlier I did that, the better. Two hours later, I recieved a text from Tokunbo, stating the address of our meeting. Ben usually returned from work, quite late, so I planned returning home before him. I stole one more glance at my reflection in the mirror before I headed out. As I approached the venue, I was quite sceptical as to how things would turn out but, I deliberately wore a thick skin, against all odds. As soon as I entered, I saw Tokunbo staring at me from his seat. He was all smiles and you could tell he was very impressed with my outfit. (Tokunbo had eyes for beautiful things.) Mid way, he held my hands and ushered me to my seat. Then I thought, was it not such an irony that the previous night, I was with my fiance, having dinner and there again, another dinner with my ex!? I began to imagine what my Mum would think of me. I sat down and maintained a very straight posture. Tokunbo chuckled and I was curious.
"So, why are you laughing?" I sought to know.
