~0.6 mins read
The housemates who made their wager presentation on Friday about their experiences in the Level Up house and all the housemates of this season, unfortunately lost the task.

Following the loss, Chichi who is currently the Head of House was thrown into a sad state and broke down in tears. She had earlier mentioned to the housemates that she would cry if they lost, and she indeed did.

Speaking to Bryann shortly after their Friday arena games and Big Brother's announcement of their loss, Chichi who was emotional told him that she feels really bad that they lost.

She furthur told Bryann that she believes that they didn't prepare so well due to some of the housemates reluctance to avail themselves for rehearsals and also, most of the housemates' reluctance to turn up to rehearse is because she's the Head of House and they don't respect her enough.

Update On Sale Of President Jammeh's Properties
~0.6 mins read
The Minister of Justice on Thursday furnished the National Assembly members with information on the forfeited properties of former President Jammeh which are sold while some are retained by the government.

He continued to disclose that President Barrow established a Ministerial Taskforce comprising the Ministers of Justice, Local Government and Lands, Tourism and Culture, and Agriculture to determine what actions to be taken in respect of the forfeited properties of former President Jammeh and his close associates as recommended by the Commission, and to decide on what properties were to be disposed by sale or retained for Government use or to generally handle pending third party claims against properties.

It seems like Jammeh's shadow is still looming over Gambia six years after his departure. These things should have been discussedand handled years ago. The sooner we can move on from Jammeh, the better for our country.

Worries About Recent Murders
~0.7 mins read
Gambians at home and abroad have been voicing their concerns over the recent murder cases which some of them believed to have been an unprecedented situation in the country; calling for the tightening of what they see as a loose security.

The police have confirmed at least six (6) murder cases in September alone including the murder of a 19-year-old boy in Sanchaba-Sulay Jobe – the most recent one among the six. If this number looks small to anyone; the fact is, it is big to the people of the Gambia, a country that has a population of a little over 2 million people.

“We hope that the police will step up because the incidents of crime are increasing. There is increase in theft; there is increase in assault and even murder cases. So, we are worried and then we have taken things up with the authorities,” Mr. Joof (Chairperson of NHRC) said.

NHRC is established to promote and protect human rights in the country. The independent institution also monitors and investigates human rights violation.

Why Are Most Beggars Physically Challenged?
~0.7 mins read
The National Chairperson of the Association of the Physically Challenged, Mr Edward Preirra, has said lack of employment and financial support forced most of the physically challenged persons to street begging.

Mr Preirra said financial support and embracing physically challenged people are crucial in order for them to live a dignified life, saying disability is ordained by God and that disabled people’s rights must be protected.

“Most of the people who beg around the market area and the town is as a result of the inability to get a source of earning for their livelihood. The physically challenged mostly don’t secure permanent employment. People who are formally registered with my association are not part of the beggars.”

We need to create more programs and opportunities for physically challenged to develop themselves and become contributing members of society. They're human beings and deserve all the rights and privileges the rest of us have. We must fight for them.
