UK Petrol Car Ban Threatens Nigeria’s Oil Sales -
~1.1 mins read
Except the country finds new buyers, the plan to ban petrol and diesel vehicle sales by the United Kingdom government will threaten Nigeria market share of crude oil.

UK imports Nigeria’s crude oil, which is a major revenue earner for the country.

Imports from OPEC countries, especially from Algeria and Nigeria, reportedly stood at 22 per cent of the UK’s crude import in 2018.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday had announced that new cars and vans powered wholly by petrol and diesel would not be sold in the UK from 2030

As reported by BBC, Boris said the move wad part of a green industrial revolution to tackle climate change and create jobs in industries such as nuclear energy.

But some hybrids would still be allowed, he confirmed.

It is part of what Mr Johnson calls a “green industrial revolution” to tackle climate change and create jobs in industries such as nuclear energy.

Critics say the £4bn allocated to implement the 10-point plan is far too small for the scale of the challenge.

The total amount of new money announced in the package is a 25th of the projected £100bn cost of high-speed rail, HS2.

As of November 2, the price of Brent crude dropped by 3.43 per cent to $36.64 per barrel after some European countries imposed another round of lockdown to slow the spread of COVID-19.

~1.1 mins read

An Ebonyi State Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Abakaliki, on Thursday, remanded one Ndubuisi Ogbonnaya in the custodial facility for allegedly defiling a six-year-old child.

The suspect, a 27-year-old, was said to have taken the victim to his house and violated her.

The victim’s father was said to have noticed that blood was gushing out from her private parts and demanded to know what happened after which the girl told him.

The accused, who was married with four children, reportedly committed the offence in Asaga village, in the Afikpo South Local Government Area on August 4, 2020.

He was arraigned on one count of unlawful sexual intercourse.

The charge read, “That you, Ndubuisi Ogbonnaya, sometime in August, 2020, in Asaga Owutu Edda, within the jurisdiction of Abakaliki Magisterial District, did have unlawful sexual intercourse with a child, aged six years, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 34(2) of Child Rights Law and Related Matters, 2010.”

The accused, who was not represented in court, confessed to the crime.

However, the chief magistrate, Mrs Nnenna Onuoha, said the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the case.

She directed that the suspect be remanded at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Abakaliki, while his case file should be transferred to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

The matter was adjourned till November 27, 2020.

HOW TO CARE FOR THE SKIN
~2.5 mins read
Most Effective Treatment for ACNE (Pimples), Rough skin and Wrinkles.

Vitamin A (retinol) and its derivatives such as Tretinoin and Isotretinoin top the list of best treatments available for acne and wrinkled skin.

If so, why isn’t vitamin popularly used among people suffering from acne or why isn’t it commonly prescribed by doctors?

I do not have the answer to any of those questions, but some suggestions here…

Vitamin A derivatives in creams are usually expensive and scarce in developing nations, so most people would have a hard time locating a pharmacy that sells one.
The doctors could be really old and failed to update their knowledge database
The doctors do not want to prescribe Vitamin A or it’s derivative Isotretinoin because most people who suffer acne are women of child bearing age. Isotretinoin and High doses of Vitamin A is considered teratogenic (A teratogenic agent is any agent that could cause birth defects in the unborn) and possible abortifacients.
Most people who are prescribed Vitamin A and it’s derivatives especially in creams ( Tretinoin creams are safer than Oral Isotretinoin) are usually not patient enough. During the initial stage of treatment, the acne condition seems to be getting worse, this lasts for about a week and then clear results are noticed at about 14 days after consistent application of the cream. Many people complain of its ineffectiveness and they discontinue use even before 10 days.
Some other strange reasons…
How Vitamin A and its derivatives works

First of all, vitamin A is an anti-oxidant. Generally, anti-oxidants prevent many types of cell-damage (let’s leave it there).

This tells you that if you are getting adequate amounts of vitamin A, your skin would definitely look younger. Who doesn’t want to have a young glowing skin?

Be informed that anti-oxidants help boost Immunity.

Vitamin A is essential for normal growth and differentiation of most cells of the body.

Now you know that Vitamin A is useful for any abnormal growth of cells, be it acne from clogging of pores or ingrown hairs or even some kind of tumour like growth.

Its character of improving cell growth and differentiation gives it the ability to give you a younger looking skin resistant to damaging agents like Ultra-violet lights

Adequate amounts of dietary vitamin A can be useful in the treatment and prevention of some types of cancers too.

What if you don’t like drugs and you can’t afford creams

You can get Vitamin A mostly from Liver and leafy vegetables. But if you are deficient or have serious skin problem you would most certainly need vitamin A supplements and creams.

Isotretinoin is a proven treatment for severe cystic acne. Do not try to get pregnant if you are taking Isotretinoin.

Note:

Take caution, when taking vitamin A supplements or Isotretinoin. Vitamin A in any form can become toxic when taken in high doses or when used over a long period of time.

If you are taking vitamin A supplements or Isotretinoin, make sure to take birth control measures because Vitamin A can cause Birth defects in the unborn child.

Other common uses of Vitamin A and its derivatives

In the treatment/Management of measles
To improve eyesight, Vitamin A helps build our visual pigments.
To treat Acute promyelocytic leukaemia. A type of leukaemia.
To clear wrinkles

Orji Uzor Kalu To Buy Arsenal - 35% Stake To Revive The Club - UK Reports -
~1.3 mins read
Nigerian billionaire Orji Kalu wants to buy a huge stake in Arsenal and "bring trophies back" to the Emirates.

The 60-year-old is looking to purchase 35 per cent of the Gunners having made his fortune as a senator, businessman and newspaper owner.

Arsenal can no longer compete financially with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

And that has been a factor in their lack of success with their last Premier League title coming in 2004.

Since then trophies have been few and far between, but Kalu wants to change that.

He has previously helped a club dominate domestically having taken over Nigerian club Enyimba FC.

"Our success with Enyimba FC between 2000-07 has continuously increased my passion for football," said Kalu.

"As the pillar of sports in Africa, I am considering an investment in football and I will buy 35 per cent stake in Arsenal FC.

“Our target is to lift the Champions League and EPL, and valuable investment as well.

“Doing what you love and loving it is where greatness lies. I need 35 per cent of Arsenal to bring back trophies.”

Arsenal have a large following in Nigeria that started when they signed Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.

And Kalu, who was freed from a 12-year jail sentence upon appeal in May, wants to strike up a powerful partnership between the Gunners and Enyimba.

“With Arsenal we will make Enyimba great again with the strategic partnership we are packaging," he continued.

“We shall turn it around to create a platform for more of our professional players seeking international exposure.

FG, Governors Blame #EndSARS Protests, Banditry For Hike In Food Prices
~1.8 mins read
The Federal Government and state governors on Thursday resolved to put measures in place to address the hike in food prices being witnessed across the country.

The resolution was made at a virtual meeting of the National Economic Council presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

The council, which is chaired by the Vice President, has all state governors and relevant ministers as members.

According to Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, the resolution was made after a presentation by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Agriculture, Dr Andrew Kwasari.

Akande said from the presentation, the council noted that food prices have changed between September and November involving commodities in Lagos and a few randomly selected states.

He said the council also identified “causes of the hike in food prices to include delay in going out to farm, which translates to delay in harvesting courtesy of COVID19 pandemic; EndSARS protest stalled food transportation and delivery and in some instances destroyed food stores; banditry in the North West effectively preventing farmers from harvesting fields cultivated; farmers/herders conflict destroyed farm produce in some states, and increased cost of transportation”.

On resolution, Akande said, “States and FG were urged to adopt urgent measures including social protection schemes to deal with the situation.

“The FG will also pursue the implementation of its ESP -Agric plan and others to positively improve the situation in the sector.”

Akande said the council also received presentation from the Federal Road Safety Commission on the Nigeria Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030.

He said the strategy was an update to the maiden road safety strategy (NRSS: 2014 – 2018) developed in 2013 in response to a call for global action on road.

Akande said the council also received report on COVID-19 from the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu.

He added that the 2020 Finance Bill that was approved by the Federal Executive Council was presented to NEC.

He also said the council was briefed on ongoing engagements with youths in states.

“Council resolved that the planned zonal engagements should proceed with the focus on youths and Civil Society Organisations dealing especially with issues or jobs, and employment.

“Similarly, the states level interactions should proceed in places where this has not been reported,” he added
