Ex-Man United Coach Advises Club To Sell Pogba, Names Best Replacemen
~2.5 mins read

Former Manchester United coach, Rene Meulensteen, has advised the club to sell Paul Pogba this summer.

Meulensteen, who was Sir Alex Ferguson’s former assistant at Man United, wants the Red Devils to use the money from the sale of the France midfielder to sign Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish because the England international has the suitable DNA to play for the Old Trafford club.

Pogba cost Man United a club-record £89million to sign back in 2017 from Juventus.

“Pogba creates an imbalance in the team because he has to play, he cannot play as one of the two pivots. Defensively people run off him, so he does not do his defensive job,” Meulensteen told Stadium Astro.

“You play him from the left OK you try to manufacture something there. I am not sure. Maybe the best way is to say, can we get some money from him [Pogba] and look at what we need.”

Meulensteen added: “I think with the stature of Pogba comes expectations. I don’t think overall, he has lived up to those for whatever reasons. So if I could, I would cash-in on him and reshape the team.

“The other problem is that Pogba has never opened up to the fans about committing himself to Manchester United, how much he wants to play for this club. These are big issues for me.

“A player like Grealish would have the DNA to play for Man Utd and the stature for it, and he would have the ambition but it would change the outlook of the team. He’s a ball hogger, he likes to dribble and create things for himself.”

Army Arrests Bandits Leader In Niger State, Combs Forest For Others
~3.3 mins read

The Army has effected the arrest of one of the most notorious bandits leaders terrorizing communities in an operation in forests and other hideouts of bandits across three local government areas of Niger State.

The Bandits leader, popularly known as Jack Bros Yellow was allegedly arrested from one of the forests between Shiroro and Rafi local government.

Though, the military is yet to make public the arrest, a source close to one the communities told BLENKAS that the arrest of the bandits’ leader has greatly reduced their activities in the area in the last one week.

According to the source, as a result of the development, other members of the gangs causing havoc on the people have gone into hiding.

The source further added, “Jack Bros Yellow is the leader of one of the three groups of bandits that are operating around Shiroro, Rafi and Munya local government area.

“Jack Bros Yellow is among those who asked some communities to pay N3million for peace to reign but when the money was paid, the other gang leaders short-changed him and his boys came and kidnapped about nine women from Galape village after Galkogo, Shiroro local government in January this year.”

“He demanded ransom of N10million for the release of those women, and they are still under his custody since that January 5th until his arrest last week, but we are yet to see the women.”

Jack Bros Yellow, it was further learnt has a link with some bandits groups in Zamfara State where he purportedly keeps victims if ransom is not paid on time.

In another development, a housewife name withheld was said to have been kidnapped on Thursday and gang raped by a group of armed bandits in Suna village, Shiroro local government area.

The woman was abducted after leaving the IDP camp in Zumba in search for some food stuffs, and raped by five bandits in a nearby bush to a point of death and afterward abandoned her.

You Lack Respect For Doing That In Front Of Camera – Owen Blasts Mane Over Klopp
~4.1 mins read

Former Liverpool striker, Michael Owen, has slammed Sadio Mane for showing a lack of respect to his manager, Jurgen Klopp, after the Reds’ Premier League 4-2 win over Manchester United on Thursday.

Goals from Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool all three points against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side as Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford’s goals were not enough to give the Red Devils a point.

After Liverpool defeated Man United at Old Trafford, Klopp went onto the pitch to congratulate his players.

The German received a frosty reception from Mane, who had been left on the bench at the start of the match.

Mane refused to shake Klopp’s hand and walked away from him, shaking his head.

But Owen felt the Senegalese international was ‘disrespectful’ for shunning Klopp’s handshake, adding that he shouldn’t have done it in front of cameras.

Reacting, Owen told Premier League Productions, “I thought Jurgen Klopp played it well in the interview, played it down, didn’t want to take the shine off what was a great performance and a great win,” Owen told Premier League Productions.

“But, and there is a big but, you can’t do that to your manager, not in front of the glaring public.

“Yes, go knock on his door tomorrow [after the game], yes, if you are not happy, then say something, but you don’t do that.

“That’s a lack of respect. It sends a bad image to the fans, to his teammates. Don’t forget, he didn’t play, three players did, those three players – Salah, Jota and Firmino – scored all four goals between them, so he’s [Klopp] hardly wrong in what he did.

“I said before the game I would play Mane, I think he’s wonderful, I think he’s a brilliant player, I love watching him, I would have hated to have played against him if I were a defender.

“But at the end of the day, the team that he did pick, the three strikers, scored four goals. You [Mane] just can’t do that. That is a lack of respect, especially with Jurgen Klopp, who shows respect to everybody.

“I thought it was poor play. I totally understand it, I have been left out of a cup final before, but you can’t do that. If you feel that strongly, go back to the training ground, text the manager or knock on his door, there are so many different ways of reacting but not that one in front of the cameras. There are so many ways you can deal with it. That is the last way you deal with it,” he said.

Open Grazing Outdated Form Of Cattle Rearing – Senator Fadahunsi Supports Southern Govs
~6.1 mins read

The senator representing Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, has described open grazing as an outdated form of cattle rearing that is causing security challenges in the southern states of Nigeria.

This is as he has come out openly to support the decision of the southern governors to ban open grazing in their states.

The Senator also called on the Northern governors to come out in favour of modern ranching as a profitable means of business which will enable the cattle ranchers to settle peacefully with other Nigerians.

Senator Fadahunsi stated this while answering questions on a radio current affairs programme in Osogbo on Friday.

The senator who openly condemned insecurity in the country hinted that the National Assembly too was opposed to it because it is an issue affecting everybody.

He urged Nigerians clamouring for restructuring to demand true federalism which entails that each state will be independent enough to contribute to the central government.

In his words, “the governors are virtually helpless. If it is federalism we are practising, the state will be powerful, the local governments and community system would work and every tribe will mix freely together.

“The agitation should be for true federalism to defeat the centralised system. If it is addressed, then restructuring would fall into place. Leaders would need to meet and fashion out a new constitution.

“The National Assembly should take it upon itself to remove all those clauses that has been causing disaffection among Nigerians especially revenue allocation.

“Forget about what individuals say. It is the leaders and the National Assembly that would come out to fine tune this restructuring that we are all talking about. We need to meet at a point to discuss these issues; the northern and southern governors, political leaders, House of Representatives members and Senators.

“If it is restructuring, it is the same group that will have to fine tune this restructuring.”

Senator Fadahunsi advocated for increased items on the residual list and the decrease of those on the exclusive list.

While addressing the issue of the opposition of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan to the outcome of the southern governors meeting, Fadahunsi hinted that he was being careful not to conflagrate the situation adding that the Senate President was more interested in the unity of the country.

“The Senate President does not want Nigeria to divide under his tenure, but there must be a way of removing all those clauses that would not allow Nigeria to remain an entity.

“Everyone of us want one Nigeria but there must be ingredients of true federalism and each state must benefit.

“There is a lot to remove from this present constitution or even thrown out and that is what the National Assembly is currently doing through the Senator Obie Omo-Agege committee.

“Unity must be obtained at a cost; we must seat down as Nigerians and ask ourselves what we really want so that we can add in the constitution.”

The retired Assistant Comptroller General of Customs also noted that decentralisation of the police and digitisation of the electoral system are the most important add ups to true federalism.

BLENKAS had reported that the southern state governors of Nigeria had met in Asaba, the Delta State capital on Tuesday, 11th of May.

At the end of the crucial meeting, they resolved to ban open grazing in the entire region, calling for national dialogue, the evolution of state police, and the unity of Nigeria.

They also asked President Muhammadu Buhari to address the nation.
