Nigeria Must Continue To Exist: Obasanjo Rules Out Yoruba Nation, IPOB
~2.0 mins read
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday did not mince words about the unity and indissolubility of Nigeria when he said the country that sprawl over 923,768 km² with over 200 million people will continue to exist no matter what happens.

He spoke during the Book Launch and 85th Birthday of Eminence Prelate Sunday Mbang of the Methodist Church Nigeria which was held at the Admiralty Centre, Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

Obasanjo, who was the Convener of the programme in honour of Mbang, described the former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria as a lover of Nigeria.

The book, a memoir, chronicling the journey of the octogenarian, was titled, ‘My Life and Times’.

Obasanjo, 84, said the “many enemies” who don’t want to see the country’s continued co-existence would fail.

He said the cost of staying together as a nation is cheaper than the cost of dividing Nigeria.

The former head of state made the statement at a time when secessionist agitations, fueled by perceived injustice and worsening security situation, have increased across the country especially in Southern Nigeria.

The regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been battling with secessionist groups including the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra led by detained Nnamdi Kanu; as well as the Yoruba Nation secessionist group spearheaded by Prof Banji Akintoye and embattled Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho.

Amid the whole struggle to hold together the soul of Nigeria just 60 years after independence and many interruptions of military takeovers, Obasanjo said he would continue to work for the peace and progress of a united Nigeria.

Speaking directly to the celebrant, the ex-President assured the respected Christian leader that the enemies of Nigeria won’t win.

Obasanjo said, “We are here to honour somebody we should honour, and learn from him (Mbang), to show that we genuinely love and appreciate him for the service he has rendered to the Christian community in this country and world over. And to assure him that whatever happens, we will continue to work for unity, peace, security and progress of this country.

“I know that these are things that are dear to his heart. We want to assure you that Nigeria will continue to exist because the cost for Nigeria not to continue to exist is much more than the cost for us to make Nigeria to continue to exist.

“There are many people –high and low – who can be described as enemies of Nigeria but they will not win over those who are friends of Nigeria.”

Also at the event include the Akwa Ibom State Governor and Chairman of the occasion, Udom Emmanuel, as well as many dignitaries from all walks of life.

I was like ‘ which dirty child?’. She said a pastor told her that the father would ask of her.

I agree when we were in school we were together for sometime. She was not dating only me. We were many. I was just a side nigga, She had a boyfriend.

When she was pregnant, I was not aware. Two years later she came saying she was my child. She took the baby to my dad, my dad accepted., saying the child resembled me.”

According to the German tactician, the Portugal interest would make life difficult for Chelsea if he joins either Manchester United or Manchester City.

The Portugal legend Ronaldo is widely considered one of the best players of all time, and Tuchel lamented his return to the Premier League.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has told Juventus he wants to leave the club and is in advanced talks with former club Manchester United after negotiations with Manchester City broke down.

“I don’t think it’s good if he plays for any of our rivals!” Tuchel told the press on Friday.

“If he ends up in the Premier League, it’s good for the Premier League and shows how competitive and how difficult this league is.

“At the same time, it will make life harder for us. I’m hearing it now for the first time so let’s wait and see what happens.”

400 Level UNILORIN Student Commits Suicide After Two Failed Attempts
~1.2 mins read
A 26-year-old student of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), has reportedly committed suicide.

Elijah Jude Anuoluwapo is said to have consumed illicit drug substances.

According to reports, the 400 Level student of English Language died on Thursday morning, August 26, at the hospital where he was rushed to by his colleagues for medical attention.

This is said to be his third attempt at committing suicide. Unfortunately, he succeeded this time.

Friends said his reason for attempting suicide multiple times was over alleged rejection by members of his immediate family after the death of his mother.

"His father had abandoned his mother since she was carrying Jude’s pregnancy which later led to his mother’s death out of depression," a friend of the deceased told Tribune.

Jude's maternal grandmother who raised him is said to have died of cancer complications last year, leaving him with no one willing to identify as his family. This led him to become depressed.

The friend of the deceased added: "Jude was a very brilliant student and even one of the very best with mastery of languages in the whole of the university campus. Many of us pleaded with him and even referred him to the school counselling unit after the second unsuccessful attempt which was about three weeks ago.

"It came to our surprise that he later proceeded with another attempt around 8:15 pm Wednesday evening. We actually tried to save his life as usual, but to no avail, as he finally gave up the ghost earlier today in the hospital. If he didn’t die, he should have been one of the very best writers of the next generation."
