Tortoise In The Sky
~2.5 mins read
Once upon a time, in a land where the sky stretched endlessly above and the earth sprawled out below, there lived a wily tortoise named Obi. Despite his slow and steady nature, Obi possessed a sharp mind and a cunning wit that made him the envy of all the creatures in the land.

Now, it just so happened that the birds of the sky were planning a grand feast to celebrate the harvest season. They had spent weeks preparing, gathering fruits, nuts, and seeds from far and wide to share in the bounty of the land. But there was one problem—Obi the tortoise had not been invited.

Undeterred by his exclusion, Obi set his mind to work, devising a clever scheme to trick the birds into inviting him to their feast. With a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous grin on his face, he set out to find the birds and set his plan in motion.

As he approached the gathering of birds, their colorful feathers glinting in the sunlight, Obi called out to them in his smoothest, most charming voice. "My dear friends," he said, bowing low before them, "I bring news of a great feast in the sky, one that you will not want to miss."

The birds cocked their heads in curiosity, their interest piqued by Obi's words. "A feast in the sky, you say?" chirped the leader of the flock, a majestic eagle with keen eyes and sharp talons.

"Yes, indeed," replied Obi with a sly grin. "But there is one catch—you must all change your names to gain entry to the feast. Only then will you be allowed to partake in the sumptuous delights that await you."

The birds exchanged puzzled glances, unsure of what to make of Obi's proposition. But the thought of a feast in the sky was too tempting to resist, and one by one, they agreed to Obi's terms.

And so, with a wave of his hand and a flick of his tail, Obi began to bestow new names upon the birds. The eagle became Sparrow, the hawk became Hummingbird, and the robin became Raven. And so it went, until each bird had been given a new name by the crafty tortoise.

Satisfied with his handiwork, Obi led the flock of birds up into the sky, promising them a feast fit for kings and queens. But as they soared higher and higher, the birds began to realize that they had been tricked.

For there was no feast waiting for them in the sky, only empty clouds and endless blue. And as they looked to Obi for answers, the tortoise could only shrug and say, "My dear friends, it seems we have flown too high and too far. But fear not, for I have a plan to make it right."

With a flick of his tail and a twinkle in his eye, Obi led the birds back to the earth below, where they found their true feast waiting for them all along—a feast of friendship, laughter, and the joy of being together.

And so, as the sun set on the horizon and the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, the birds and the tortoise feasted together beneath the open sky, their hearts full and their spirits soaring high. For in the end, it wasn't the promise of a feast in the sky that brought them together, but the bonds of friendship that united them as one.
