In the last few days I have been aghast at the thinking of so many. Many think they own you when you speak against injustice or stand for someone. If the Falanas let this go unchallenged the same people will say that they are guilty of what they are accused of. Now they are taking it up they say it is oppression. The same person did say they should clear their names and that is exactly what they are doing.
For those who feel that the focus should be on the corruption and not Falanas taking on def mation case, have you ever heard of multi tasking? Both can be done. If the guy in the video has evidence to the accusations then he goes to court otherwise tender the apologies and let everyone move on. Because many do not care about their reputation they feel others shouldn’t. You want to tarnish a family’s hard earned name and you think they should let it go. What ne nsense is that! The corruption case can go hand in hand.

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, has appealed to Nigerian youths to be patient, saying “Rome was not built in a day”.
Olawande made the call at a retirement dinner of Hajiya Walida Isa, Director, Corps Mobilisation, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Friday in Abuja.
The Youth Minister praised the exemplary service of the retired NYSC Director emphasising her boldness, courage and steadfastness. He, however, highlighted the importance of diligence, factualness and contributing meaningfully to the country regardless of one’s role.
“Well, when I was speaking, I said it clearly. I said that if there is one thing that I’ve learned from this woman during her service, things we’ve heard about her, before we know her is boldness. She is courageous and steadfast. As a youth, be focused and just know that you can contribute anything meaningful to the country, whichever quota or whichever way they put you.
”So my message for the young people is that Rome is not built in a day. It is a process and this process is what we are in now. And the process is what we are seeing with what she has done and everybody is here to celebrate her. So what are they going to know you for when you are out of one particular job you are doing? We have clearly know and feel the good work, the good actions and great things she has done.
We are satisfied and we know we are gaining a lot from her, as youths, we want to be bold, we want to be factual. We want to work diligently so that people will also say good things about us. We want all the young people she has trained in one way or the other to know that they can be better than her wherever and however they find themselves,” he said.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said that the Federal Government will toll all major roads in the country upon completion of construction and renovation. He listed some of the roads as Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Second Niger Bridge, Abuja-Kano Road, and Makurdi-9th Mile, among others.
Umahi, who disclosed this, yesterday, in Abuja during an inter-ministerial media briefing as part of activities to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary, said: “We have the Lagos-Ibadan (Expressway). We are completing it and we are tolling it.”
The former Ebonyi State governor and senator noted that the tolling of federal roads “is going to bring a lot of money to the Federal Government.” According to him, private sector members have been engaged to bring in funds, construct these roads, and work with the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission and the Ministry of Works to toll the roads.
He said the government would start with the Keffi-Makurdi Road that had been completed, stating that his ministry has been engaging with the Ministry of Finance for a paperless mode of payment. “For example, we are completing the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, working on Makurdi to 9th Mile in Enugu State, and working on Abuja to Lagos Road. We are not just going to tollthem, we are bringing confidence in the use of these roads.
If people can travel at night because we are bringing security, where the response time will be 10 minutes on the entire corridor, where you have solar light permanently there and then reduce travel time, and through the tolling, the roads are maintained, then there will be confidence because Nigerians will pay if the roads are good,” he said.
He said before now, road developments had not been handled as investments but the administration of President Bola Tinubu has been handling road developments more professionally, saying that the current administration inherited a total of 300 damaged roads and bridges, adding that more road constructions would commence from October 1, 2024 across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1 a public holiday to commemorate the Nation’s 64th Independence Anniversary.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani in a statement on Saturday said the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.
The minister congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the occasion. Dr. Tunji-Ojo also praised the patient and hardworking Nigerian men and women, stating that their sacrifices will not be in vain.
“Aligning himself with the theme for the Anniversary, the Minister reiterated the need for Nigerians to reflect on the labour of our heroes past and be inspired for the tasks ahead, realizing that a Nigeria of our dream can only be built when we unite. While wishing Nigerians a Happy Independence Day Anniversary, Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged the citizens to continue to be steadfast in nation-building”, the statement added.
