Shehu Wada Sagagi

The Chief Of Staff Of Kano, Sagagi, Refutes Allegations Made By The APC On Palliative Allocation
~2.2 mins read
Shehu Wada Sagagi, the governor of Kano State, claimed on Wednesday that neither his administration nor he had received any budget for palliative care in the state.
In response to charges made against him by the state’s opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), over the purported diversion of federal funds for palliative care, Sagagi characterized the assertion made by APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas as politically driven, vacuous, and deceptive.
In a statement provided to reporters in Kano on Wednesday, the chief of staff described the opposition party’s tactics as a “coordinated attempt to discredit the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP government’s efforts in supporting the people of Kano state, and a desperate attempt to tarnish his image in the eyes of right-thinking Nigerians.”
He stated that such baseless accusations are only cheap political antics, and that the APC’s assertions of palliative diversion and rebranding level against his personality are untrue and devoid of hard facts.
“Let it be on record that my office has never been involved in palliatives distribution and no one has ever allocated the palliatives to me for onward distribution to state, local governments or ward level,” the powerful politician who was born in Kano reiterated.
“There is no truth to the APC’s claims of diversion or rebranding; the NNPP government has been transparent in its distribution of palliatives to the masses, with clear records of beneficiaries and distribution channels.” Sagagi explained.
“The accusations made by the APC are merely political in nature, tainted to divert attention from their own shortcomings during their eight years in governance and instead focus on the accomplishments of the NNPP administration in their less than year in office,” Hea said.
The statement was partially as follows: “The APC has previously lauded the NNPP government’s efforts in aiding the people of Kano state, thus their charges of palliative diversion are equally contradictory.”
“We saw the recent media attack as a planned attempt to undermine the tremendous progress the NNPP government has made in aiding the people of Kano state, from food distribution to infrastructure development.”
“The Kano state government would not be surprised by the APC Chairman’s frustration, which led him to attempt blackmail and fact-bending in order to garner cheap publicity.”
“We are aware that the APC is still dealing with the fallout from the disastrous NNPP victory in the Kano governorship election in 2023. The never-ending loss in the Supreme Court was just one more nightmare.”
“The leadership is chasing shadows, seizing every opportunity to back over the media with empty vessels, instead of reflecting on their misfortune at the poll and maybe asking the good people of Kano for forgiveness for their careless administration and massive misappropriation of public funds.”
But Sagagi added, “We challenge the APC to produce evidence to support their claims or to withdraw their statement.”
Remember that Abdullahi Abbas, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, demanded on Saturday that the Kano State government, led by the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), conduct an independent investigation into its officials who are allegedly involved in diverting federal palliatives and that they either prosecute those responsible or face legal action.

Baptist Conference To FG: Solve The Problem Of Insecurity
~0.7 mins read
Rev. Wale Oyeniyi, President of the Baptist Conference in Ogun State, urged the Federal Government to tackle insurgency and banditry, citing that this would help Nigeria overcome its financial difficulties and food shortage.
Oyeniyi stated, "In a climate of insecurity, no society can document significant progress. Our nation looks like an entity at war against itself with the level of insecurity in the land." He emphasized that the killing of innocent people has continued unchecked for too long, threatening the nation's cohesiveness.
Oyeniyi called on President Bola Tinubu's administration to address insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and senseless killings. He emphasized the need for justice to be served to convicted offenders, promoting healing, trust, and legitimacy in the fight against insecurity.
Oyeniyi argued that resolving insecurity would foster creativity, innovation, and investment, bringing relief to the economy. He emphasized that peace and stability would engage the youth and promote national development.
Oyeniyi's comments came ahead of the 47th Baptist Conference in Session at First Baptist Church, Oke-Odan in Yewa South Local Government Area, Ogun State.

Armed Forces Require 200 Million Rounds Of Ammunition Yearly And It’ll Cost The Government N600 Billion — Minister Of State For Defence
~1.0 mins read

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, disclosed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria require 200 million rounds of ammunition annually for their operations, costing the government at least $2 per ammunition.

He revealed this on Wednesday during the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), and the National Agency for Science and Engineering (NASENI) on the establishment of an ammunition production factory in Nigeria.

He blamed past governments for the nation’s failure to achieve self-sufficiency in defence production. “We have been travelling all over the world, and we see how local manufacturers are developing their countries. But unfortunately, Nigeria, for 60 years, has failed to build the institutions, but that has changed, and it will continue changing, inshallah.

Therefore, I make a promise to Mr President that as far as the MOD is concerned, before the expiration of his four years, I assure him that DICON will be exporting its military capabilities. All we need from all of you is prayers and your dedication. We shall look at it as our own baby, not just mine, but for all of us. Of course, if today we are achieving even 60 or 70% reduction in our military hardware and ammunition costs, considering that just the military requires about 200 million rounds of ammunition per annum, and when we include other paramilitaries and the police, we’re looking at about 350 million rounds of ammunition per annum.”

On the first day of the tragic journey, the village community, representatives of the Sokoto Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Sokoto zonal office worked together to rescue 20 of the accident survivors.
Teenagers and some elderly residents of the village were being carried by the capsized boat in the middle of the river; they were employed as manual laborers in the farms that bordered the river.
It was stated that the unfortunate boat’s captain lost control of the vessel due to strong waves a few meters from the intended destination, causing it to capsize upside down, spilling its occupants into the swiftly flowing water.
