There was panic at the Oyo State Secretariat in Ibadan on Thursday as soldiers attached to Operation Burst, a Joint Security Task Force, and some members of the Agbekoya clashed at the entrance of the secretariat.
Our correspondent gathered that the incident happened around 11 : 30 am when a leader of the Agbekoya , popularly known as Akekaka , was going inside the secretariat to attend the meeting of various Yoruba groups held at the House of Chiefs.
One of those who witnessed the incident told our correspondent that the Agbekoya leader was going with his horde of followers to the meeting but one of the soldiers deployed to guard the main gate of the secretariat stopped him and said he would not be allowed to go in.
This was said to have angered one of the followers who reportedly challenged the soldier for stopping their leader .
However, the leader of Agbekoya at Ajibode, Waheed Baba Ijebu, who is also the Otun Oluawo Ajibode, told our correspondent that nobody died in the incident .
He said, Baba Akekaka was coming to the meeting with his boys and the soldiers there asked why are they shouting and singing . He prevented them from going in and one of the boys said he didn t have the right to stop them .
The soldiers slapped him and he slapped the soldier back . He cocked his gun and fired him many times but the bulletin did not have an effect on him . The bullet went and hit one okada but the rider was not injured . He fell down but he was not injured .
They arrested eight of our people but they have released all of them now . Everybody is fine. Nobody was injured and nobody died.

Our correspondent observed that there were armed soldiers at the entrance of the secretariat with other security personnel , including men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps , who were guarding the place before the soldiers were deployed.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, when contacted said he was not aware of the incident .
The Commissioner for Information , Wasiu Olatubosun , however , did not answer the calls put across to his telephone by our correspondent on the incident .

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has banned the #ENDSARS protests in Port Harcourt.
This was contained in a statement by the commissioner for information, Paulinus Nsirim.
The #SARSMUSTGO protests which have engulfed the country was scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
According to the statement: The Rivers State Government hereby wish to inform the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the State.
Therefore, all proposed protests under #End SARS Campaign are hereby prohibited.
Government took this decision because the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had already scrapped the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
Therefore, there is no need for any form of protest against a Unit of the Police Force that no longer exists.
Parents and Guardians are therefore advised to ensure that their children or wards do not violate this order.
Law enforcement agencies are also directed to ensure that the ban is enforced and that violators are brought to book.
Black Friday: Why We Are Silent On Hisbah’s Letter To Cool FM

Lagos- The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has spoken on why it has been silent on the controversy trailing the letter addressed to a radio station, Cool FM by Hisbah, the Sharia police organisation in Kano State asking the radio station to desist from using the term Black Friday.
In a letter signed by Principal Executive Officer II, Abubakar Ali, on behalf of the Commander-General, Hisbah stated that Friday is regarded as a holy day in Islam and tagging it as black is derogatory and would not be condoned.
Some Nigerians have condemned the silence of the NBC, which is the only organisation that has the powers to prescribe a code for broadcasters and sanction them.
However, speaking in an exclusive chat with INDEPENDENT on Saturday, the Director-General of NBC, Armstrong Idachaba, said there is no way the organisation could have spoken on the matter since Hisbah did not write to it to complain about the activities of the radio station.
Idachaba who said NBC cannot reply Hisbah on behalf of CoolFM said since the letter was written to CoolFM, it behooves on the management of the radio station to reply if they have any objection.
He said NBC can only intervene if it receives complaints from Hisbah or the radio station.
Let me ask you as a reporter, Hisbah in Kano wrote to CoolFM in Kano, what is the response of CoolFM to the letter? None! The letter was not written to NBC. It was written to CoolFM and NBC was not even copied in that letter.
A group in Kano writes to a radio station. A radio station is an entity on its own and it has editorial leadership. If it is going to carry a story, it is free and constitutionally mandated to carry it as long as it is balanced and professionally reported. If they decide not to carry a story, it is an editorial decision.
Hisbah has written to them, they are expected to write back stating their reasons why they cant do that. Then the other organisation (Hisbah) can now write to the regulator complaining about the radio or TV station. But none of this has happened and they are saying NBC is silent.
NBC is not the radio station that they wrote to and we dont even know the circumstances of the engagement. The radio station should first respond as an independent editorial entity.
If somebody writes your newspaper, will you ask the Press Council to respond on your behalf? he asked.

Stanley Omah Didia better known by his stage name Omah Lay was born on 19th May 1997 in Ikwere, Port Harcourt in southern Nigeria. He was born into a family with deep musical roots. His grandfather was until his death, a percussionist for the legendary 1970s Igbo Highlife singer Celestine Ukwu and his father was also a local drummer.
