When guys are still looking for facial hair and go as far as buying various online remedies to grow a beard –yours truly is one of them –this girl has got it all without even trying.

Oh, what an unfair world!

24-Years-Old in 2018, Harnaam Kaur is the youngest woman to have a full beard at 24.

The British, anti-bullying activist life coach and motivational speaker holds the Guinness World Record for being the youngest woman to grow a full beard.

Her record citation read: "Now with a beard measuring as long as six inches in places, she overcame years of bullying to take ownership of her appearance and achieve this record title at the age of 24 years 282 days.

Harnaam at one time in her life became so self-conscious that she refused to leave her house, except to go to lessons.

And at her lowest point, she began self-harming and even considered taking her own life.

Harnaam was born on November 29, 1990, and she first started to notice that she was growing facial hair at the age of 11.

She was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome at the age of 12. This is a condition that means she has much more testosterone than most women which is what causes hair to grow.

A lot of women in Nigeria too suffer an almost similar fate –with many having little strands of facial and chest hair growing on their person. There is even an unconfirmed myth that when it starts, shaving off the stubble may result in having the hair spread onto other parts of the face.

Kaur initially tried to remove her facial hair due to constant bullying and embarrassment. With time, she has embraced her unconventional appearance and has become a spokesperson for the body positive movement.

It is worthy to note that with all the facial hair on her person, she still manages to look incredibly beautiful and this writer would not mind having her on his "special somebody list". Talk about beauty in the awkward.

Before coming to the limelight, she was working as a teaching assistant for her uniqueness.

She also became the first woman with a beard to walk the ramp in London Fashion Week, making that happen in 2014.

If you wonder what she is up to these days, she is now endorsing several brands and products. She also expresses her voice through her social media channels, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.

To promote self-love and acceptance, Kaur has stated that she has named her beard Sundri, which means beauty or beautiful, and refers to her beard as a "she."

I guess no one can find a more satisfying name for such a beautiful beard as that anywhere in the world.

She currently lives in India and belongs to a Panjabi family.

On her decision to keep her beard, she says, "I decided to keep my beard and step forward against society's expectations of what a woman should look like.

"Today I am not suicidal and I do not self-harm. Today I am happy living as a young beautiful bearded woman. I have realised that this body is mine, I own it, I do not have any other body to live in so I may as well love it unconditionally."

I guess this piece teaches us to embrace what we are and not let flaws that we had nothing to with keep us from being the best we can be.
