CHELSEA are edging even closer to signing Kai Havertz with the Bayer Leverkusen starlet reportedly leaving the Germany camp to complete his switch to West London.

It was previously claimed he had a medical on Sunday, with the £90m deal expected to go through in the coming days.

And with the mega bucks being splashed out this summer by the Blues, the accountants will be happy to hear Eden Hazard's transfer fee will rise to £143m.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are targeting Rennes shot-stopper Edouard Mendy in a bid to provide top competition for underwhelming Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Spaniard has struggled since joining for a world record fee for a goalkeeper in 2018 - and could now face increased pressure to perform should the Frenchman arrive.
