If you love sleek shiny hairstyles then chances are that you'll want your edges to be laid perfectly.
But laying edges is actually alot more difficult than you think and it requires a certain level of care and patience ( especially if your hair is natural).
Not to mention that wrongly laying your edges can have some not so pretty consequences.
So without further ado, here are 4 tips that'll turn you into an edge laying pro :

 1. Get The Right Materials

In order to slick down your edges, you are going to need some certain products and materials.
Obviously, an edge brush or, if you don't have one, clean toothbrush. Make sure that the tooth brush is a soft one as hard bristle brushes can rip out your baby hair.
The next thing you will need is a good edge control. Not all gels and edge controls are good for your hair, the ones that contain alcohol, for example, will dry out and damage your hair over time.

 2. Dampen Your Hair A Bit

You may need a spray bottle for this step. Lightly spritzing your hair with water will make the process of slicing down your hair easier.

This is because your edge control will stick better to damp hair, meaning it'll last longer.
It also makes the hair easier to manage as damp hair styles better than dry hair.
Just be careful not to over do it because if it's too wet then the egfe control will appear white and flakey.

 3. Less Product Is More

You really shouldn't pile on globs of gel when you are trying to lay your edges down because it just isn't good for your hair.
All that product will simply cause build up in your hair and may even result in forehead acne if tee formula contains a lot of oil.
Use less product, yet just enough to slick those edges down.

 4. Wear A Scarf After You Style

After you're done with brushing your edges into a sleek style, you will need to get yourself a silk or satin scarf and carefully tie it over the edges.
You should do this to prevent the gel from rubbing off and also so that your hair does not stand back up while the gel is drying.

 5. Try Not To Keep Your Edges Layed For Days

Many women are fond of styling their hair with gel and then keeping it in that same style for several days on end , applying more and more product every day.
Frankly speaking, that is a very easy way to start loosing your hair.
Like stated above, gel is not the best product for your hair and piling on more gel everyday only worsens the effects.
Also keeping your hair in that style for a long time, means that it will be dry and easier to break off.
Try not to keep your hair gelled for too long and if you absolutely have to, wear a scarf to sleep.

All these tips should make it much easier for you to style your edges and have them stay neat for longer. Say goodbye to frizzy edges!
