Nigerian veteran actor, Fabian Adibe, has said that Nollywood is no longer the way it was before. He said that getting a role in movies back then was not based on tribalism and nepotism. He said that things were a lot easier in the past, because all of them acted together then irrespective of where they came from.

In the report which was made by The Cable, the actor revealed that his wife was sacked from work in Enugu because she's not from the state, even though she's an Igbo woman who was also married to a man that was born in Imo. He said that such a thing would not have happened back then, because tribalism didn't have a place in Nigeria then.

He said - "My wife was sacked in 1997 because she was a non-indigene in Enugu, despite being an Igbo woman from Abia State, married to an Imo State-born man.

Back in our days, this wouldn't have happened. Nigeria was one then."

Fabian was one of the popular names in Nollywood back in the days, and dominated the movie scene for nearly four decades, but he left the industry about twelve years ago. In an interview a few months ago, he revealed that he left the industry after they introduced what he referred to as "packaging." And that it was a situation where he would be given three scripts to act, then he would be paid for two of the scripts, while the third one would be done for free. He said that he didn't want to be part of such an arrangement that's why he stopped acting.
