Chizaram Onyemaechi, A Nigerian lady living with albinism has shared some of the challenges she passed through because of her condition. In an exclusive interview with Punch Newspaper, Chizaram revealed that she was born in Lagos but she hailed from Umahia Local Govt Area of Abia State.
She revealed that when she started growing up, she suffered different types of discrimination from her peer group. She said her classmates used to tell her derogatory words because of her condition. When she was in secondary school, some people told her that she would not live long because albinism predisposes an individual to the risk of developing cancer.
She stated that she used to have a boyfriend a few years ago, but he left her because his friends were mocking him that he was dating a lady with albinism. She added that most of the people that showed interest in dating her did that because they want to taste her body only.
