~0.9 mins read

A man has been arrested for tampering with evidence after a d3ad body was found inside his McKinney home.

According to a press release by the Collin County Sheriff’s office, Mark Horak, 65, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the investigation into the d3ath of a man who was found d3ad at his home in July, 2024,

The agency previously reported that on July 31, 2024, a man at a local emergency room reported there was an unconscious man with a head inj¥ry at his home on Billy Mitchell Drive. Deputies made their way into the home and found 31-year-old Olutoyosi Molomo d3ad.

The Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined that a g¥n shot had kill3d Molomo. The sheriff’s office says evidence shows Horak “knowingly altered the crime scene after Mr. Molomo’s d3ath.”

Horak has been charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse, which is a second-degree felony. Law enforcement has not publicly released the identity of the man in the emergency room.

The Collin County Sheriff’s Office says they are still investigating to learn what led to Molomo’s d3ath.

Nearly 40% Of Parents Worry Their Kids Will Require Financial Assistance As Adults
~1.5 mins read

Parents are worried that their children will need financial help even as adults.

Nearly four in ten (37%) parents of all generations worry their children will need financial assistance well into adulthood, a recent survey by U.S. Bank found. Those concerns run higher for Gen X parents, typically those born between 1965 and 1980, with more than half (53%) fearing that their kids would rely on them for money.

Over the past few years, many people, but especially younger people, struggled with the growing cost of living due to rampant inflation. Higher interest rates as the Federal Reserve attempted to tame rising prices meant many fell behind on paying for their cars or credit card bills.

Earlier this year, a survey from Bank of America found that 46% of adult members of Gen Z—or those typically born between born between 1997 and 2012—were receiving financial assistance from parents or other family members to pay for essential expenses.

Advisors say some of those worries could be mitigated by families having more open conversations around savings, debt and inheritance.

"Our hope is that these survey findings spark a dialogue on the importance of families discussing challenging financial topics, ultimately empowering more families to engage in the tough conversations that are critical to building wealth,” said Beth Lawlor, president of Private and Affluent Wealth Management at U.S. Bank.

Even though parents today are more than twice as likely to talk to their children about finances than their parents did, they are still not very comfortable having those discussions. They'd rather chat about politics and the 2024 presidential election (76%) than their own finances (63%), the U.S. Bank survey found.
