AI Software Demand Helps Lift MongoDB Stock
~1.0 mins read

MongoDB (MDB) shares rocketed higher after the bell Thursday after the company raised its full-year guidance alongside second-quarter results that topped expectations.

The database software company now expects 2024 revenue of $1.925 billion at the midpoint of its range, up from $1.89 billion a quarter earlier. MongoDB also raised its earnings per share (EPS) estimate to a midpoint of $2.40, up from $2.22.

Second-quarter revenue rose 13% to $478.1 million, driven by 27% growth in sales of its MongoDB Atlas multi-cloud developer data platform. The company posed a net loss of $54.5 million, or 74 cents per share, compared to $37.6 million, 53 cents per share, a year earlier. Both revenue and earnings beat the Visible Alpha analyst consensus.

MongoDB is aiming to capitalize on demand for artificial intelligence (AI) software across a wide breadth of sectors. "We believe we are incredibly well positioned to help customers incorporate generative AI into their business and modernize their legacy application estate," CEO Dev Ittycheria said.

MongoDB shares jump[ed about 14% in aftermarket trading after rising in the regular session. They remain down substantially this year, thanks in part to disappointing results last quarter.

Couple Accidentally Roll Into A River While ‘working Out’ In Their Car In The U.S.
~0.6 mins read

A yet-to-be identified couple “getting busy” in their car nearly ended in tragedy after their SUV rolled into a Philadelphia river in the middle of the night while they were in the backseat, New York Post reports.

Police told NBC10 that the lovebirds were having ‘prayers’ in a 2020 Range Rover near the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday when one of their limbs bumped into the SUV’s gear stick. Both the man and woman were unharmed in the incident, according to WCAU. The same could not be said for the waterlogged Range Rover.

Moments later, the Range Rover tumbled over the edge and sank into the water, about two miles from Philadelphia City Hall. The couple were considered lucky to have escaped safely from the sticky situation.

We’re Sorry We Didn’t Keep Our Promise, Maybe Next Time’ – Edo PDP Chairman Leaves Edo People Frustrated

Edo PDP Chairman Admits Failure to Deliver Promised Road, Leaves Edo People Frustrated

In a startling admission, the Edo State PDP Chairman recently apologized to the people of Edo for failing to fulfill a major campaign promise: the construction of a critical road. During a public address, the Chairman openly stated, “We are sorry we didn’t do the road we promised, the next Governor will.” This statement has sparked widespread outrage among Edo residents, many of whom feel betrayed by the party’s unkept promises.

For years, Edo people have waited patiently, hoping to see the infrastructure improvements they were promised during election campaigns. The road in question was not just a minor project; it was a symbol of hope for better connectivity, economic growth, and overall development in the state. Instead, it has become a glaring reminder of what many are calling the government’s inability to deliver on its commitments.

The Chairman’s apology, rather than calming the situation, has only fueled public anger. “Are we going to keep voting for leaders who make promises and don’t fulfill them?” is the question on everyone’s lips. Edo people are increasingly vocal in their dissatisfaction, with many taking to social media to express their frustration.

Across various platforms, the message is clear: Edo people are saying “No” to unfulfilled promises. They demand accountability and a government that doesn’t just make promises but follows through with action. The Chairman’s suggestion that the next Governor might fulfill the promise has done little to reassure the public, who are tired of waiting for change that never comes.

As the election season approaches, this incident serves as a potent reminder to the people of Edo to vote wisely. The call for leaders who are not just talk, but who deliver tangible results, has never been louder. The question now is whether this outcry will translate into real change at the polls, or if the cycle of broken promises will continue. One thing is certain: Edo people are ready for a government that lives up to its word.

GE Vernova Stock Hits Record High Amid AI Power Demand Optimism
~1.2 mins read

GE Vernova (GEV) shares jumped Thursday to their all-time high after William Blair analyst Jed Dorsheimer initiated coverage of the power-generation equipment and services company with an "outperform" rating, citing the demand for energy to run artificial intelligence (AI) products.

Dorsheimer wrote in a note to clients Thursday that “the reality behind AI” is that natural gas and gas turbine power are “underappreciated.”

He added that renewable energy sources aren’t capable of producing the electricity needed to supply the grid for this burgeoning demand, and that natural gas is the “pragmatic” answer. He said his firm believes GE Vernova “is best positioned to benefit as the energy sector reverts back to pragmatism and quietly walks back from the 100% green idealism.”

Dorsheimer said that the natural gas turbines currently in use are aging, and because of the call for more electricity, power plants are running harder and past scheduled retirement. He argued that that fact benefits GE Vernova, whose service contracts for the machines act as recurring revenue.

Dorsheimer said in the research report that using two ways to analyze the valuation, GE Vernova’s share price should be $216.

Shares of GE Vernova, which was created in April when the old General Electric divided into three separate companies, gained 4% on Thursday to close at $191.36, after moving as high as $195.68 during the session.
